I'm pretty new to error identification.
I have a 1982 Lincoln Cent with what looks like a chip in the L in Liberty. Can anyone help?

to the CCF

It is not a die chip, it is damage from taking a hit.
A die chip would raised almost to the height of the letters.
Also a die chip is not an error, it is a die event.

Must ask, what does the reverse look like? Appears the coin may have suffered exposure to a corrosive environment.

The obverse side is most likely suffering from major Die Deterioration. Note the heavy die flow and the mushy devices? I have one just like it, except it's more advanced. https://goccf.com/t/322204

Yep - E&V calls it! Just a worn die.
