Dear Coinsfolk, Fridge Magnets is the topic yes.. They're pretty funny, little colorful objects that are supposed to stick in the outer shell of your refrigerators in out houses. As we're a coin community, I don't suppose many of us are really into them. However, I have someone special in my life who is collecting them and I thought something like a surprise to her. This is actually not a contest, but sort of a giveaway. Here are the rules: I need a fridge magnet from where you are living. fridge Magnets aren't very heavy and it should not cost a fortune to get them mailed internationally (I suppose). If more people than I anticipate will decide to join, I can ask one of my friends in the States, Europe or Australia to accept the mail from their own country and forward the mail to me ( I will pay the forward mailing costs) Well, as I stated this is a giveaway, there of course is some sort of prize. I will mail some interesting collectible coins from Turkey to every participant. After everybody get their names written down, like two weeks or so, I will make two draws from a box with names. (or I can ask one of our devoted forum moderators to do that for me!) First name out of the box will get a Uncirculated Mint Set from Turkey (year 1996, it has the most interesting coins plus a silver token). The second name will get a super-surprise coin, which has a market value much more than all the magnets I am anticipated to get. I will not name the coin here, but I will give two clues;a-) It's Sterling silver and a LARGE coin. b-) It may be very interesting to an American collector, even though it is not an American coin.I thought the participants better see the photos of the prize. It is a 2009 1 oz (39 grams) Silver commemorative US President Obama's Visit to Turkey (7-9 April 2009) crown sized 50 Liras, .925 silver, and it's from the mint shop at 75 Liras (roughly about US 50 $). It's all free for the winning contestant. Every other participant will get something too. (it's stock photo... even if you like Obama or not, actual coins even looks better..).. Also, many other comemm. coins available at the shop, I'll let the winner choose if he doesn't like that coin. So, let's see what happens. By the way, if anyone from the US, (Svslav is doing that) Australia or Western Europe who may want to help me, please Pm me. I'll find something interesting for you too for your help. Happy collecting everyone. Edited by molydeii 01/16/2011 08:52 am

After all the magnets are rounded up, I'll take a photo and post it too. Slav, would you want to be my US contact in gathering the magnets? Pls-nice to see you here! You have got a cool magnet collection out here. Glad to know you like magnets. This gives tv opportunity to add something else inside the envelope I am building up for you today however, the magnets I am looking for are more like those that are sold in gift shops. I believe I can call them soveneir magnets. They have depictings of a city, a state,a country, etc on them. I will post some photos tomorrow.

Okay, I get it. I may just have some extras of those, too. Obviously most of these are radio and TV station promos (plus a few choice comic strips I've saved over the years), and a few more and I'll have the front and both sides of the fridge covered, lol.
