Dorado ... You are not preserving or "saving" any of the coins that you have posted. They have been essentially ruined and you have added 20 years of wear onto each of them. The dark spots and greens can be fairly easily removed and the coins preserved by using much much less invasive methods. Every time I see one of your coins, it sends a chill down my spine.

Dorado you want your coins to have the deep brown look to them. By removing the brown color off your coins you have destroyed the value of those coins and the coin. If you want to preserve coins don't clean them. Okiecoiner I agree with what you have said.

I don't handle coins for money ...I do it for pleasure

Dorado....It is obvious from your various postings that you ARE a collector and also ruining many of your coins so that they can no longer be appreciated by future collectors. Such a shame. Hopefully you will be more careful with the treatment of your coins from here on in!

That is one very cool "N" indeed..Great find and great photo.. Question..... Is it the "norm" to find some amount of bottom serif tripling in the obverse legend when looking at RTC 81's ?

Thanks guys. This is one of my favorites also Bill, and it's not even an 1859. Quote: Is it the "norm" to find some amount of bottom serif tripling in the obverse legend when looking at RTC 81's ? All of the coins from that particular die will show some of the letters tripled at the bottom, like the ones you've shown (especially the A of GRATIA and the E of DEI) and also the T of VICTORIA. You can see them on higher grade coins, but as the coins wear it becomes less obvious. Here is the T of VICTORIA on that die.

That's a nice one MG! And a great close-up photo of the spur! 81's are almost as much fun as 59's.

81's are almost as much fun as 59's. I agree and another great one from MG....but I still will go for the 59's first..
