I wonder if we will find the coloured coins mixed in hap-haphazardly in rolls. Like they were with the last few Olympic coins.

I'm looking forward to finding these over the next few months!
I'm not a fan of the fancy colorized coins the mint is making, they don't really look or feel like coins to me (especially since you can't touch them in the cases they're in). But these look cool and will be circulated, so I can personally examine these coins with my eyes and feel. Of course I like a shiny coin, but for me I also like to be able to hold it and let others see and touch them as well...share the experience.
To each their own.

Personally, I think Canadian arcade tokens are way too cartoony and they're coming out with new ones every year. What. Is. The. Point. I can't take the dollar seriously anymore.

It is fun for a foreigner to go to the country and try and get as many as possible thought. I do agree that too many makes it not worthwhile and people get saturated, the US being the best example, how many different quarters? Like 6 million different designs!

Hmmm? ... sadly, I'm not a huge fan of Native artwork, so I'm not a huge fan of these new coins (Note: some people absolutely love Native artwork, and obviously the people at the Canadian mint must love it, for most of their quarter series seem to be heavily influenced by it) ... nothing personal, just not my taste ...
However, I do absolutely "LOVE" when the mint produces new varieties of quarters for me to collect, no matter what they look like, so I'll be snatching them up and sticking them into my quarter album (the more, the merrier!)

I see that the RCM has put out a BU set for $23.95 that includes the 6 quarters, loonie & toonie. There is a picture in the NCLT forum along with other new releases of non-circulating coins. |

Got a Parks loonie in change today.Actually looks better in hand than in photos,the cartoon-like characters don't jump out at you.
Still waiting for the ones I ordered from the Mint.

I ordered a set too ... oh, and my OCD is so bad that I also ordered the "sterling silver" set just to keep my quarter collection "complete"! (there's a sucker born every minute, eh?!)

Interesting opinions on the designs of the new 2011 commemorative circulation coins...seems people either love them or hate them. Designs can be so subjective.
Re the quarters, I saw North of 49 asking whether the coloured quarters might be found in rolls. And the answer is yes! In fact, of all the three new 25-cent circulation coins that enter circulation, half of will be coloured.
As for what the animals are - since there's some confusion there - let me also confirm they are: the Orca, the Peregrine Falcon and the Wood Bison.
