There was a casino in Vegas a looooong time ago that had Morgans in the floor. Over time they were pulled out of the floor by patrons. If memory serves, the last one was taken out of the floor in the 20's. Can't remember what the name of the place was.

If they don't cover and seal that floor the coins will start popping off on a regular basis. That and you can expect them to all turn black and or green over time.

Perhaps they should have used slabbed pennies - they're already protected.

If they seal the floor after completion it would be a very unique conversation pieces. I think I like it.  Gives me an idea for an entrance way into our home, cheaper than tile, and if laid out the right way it would be stunning. Once laid, cover with a mixture of silicate and epoxy for a non-slip surface and seal the pennies for ever. Pretty ingenious if you think about it....  |

There is a floor (I'm looking for the pictures) in the Murrah Memorial Building in Oklahoma City, that has 27,000 pennies embedded in some form of clear sealant; "Nineteen of the victims were children, who had just started their day in a day care center within the Murrah Building. Nancy Krodel, an Oklahoma educator, spearheaded a drive asking schoolchildren to donate 19 pennies for each of the young victims. That is interesting but I wonder what goes into the spaces since round objects don't completely butt against each othere. There is a sort of space inbetween the coins. And too as already noted if not put in place with some sort of adhesive, they would be popping out all the time.
Wonder if there is any of those 22's in there without the D.

$3400 is not that much for a large floor area such as this, hardwood would've cost more than that. I just have to question the durablity of the Zincolns. Oh well, cool looking any way.

first thing I thought of after "cool" was
how are they going to clean it.
Love the idea, but some kind of sealant is needed to finish the job.
Might do a thing like this in my future man cave. On a much smaller scale, maybe a floor mat or smaller scale carpet looking thing
