Hmmmmm. Yes, that is necessary. The forum software is supposed to automatically do that. Is it not?

It's going to become pretty important, down the line when the forum has grown, for the membership to actively help take care of itself. That takes a tremendous load off the moderators, and we need to be ready to be a part of it.
My best suggestion, in order to help the idea of keeping threads where they belong become more workable, is to make the General Discussion forum part of your daily routine here. If this community continues to grow at a steady pace, the day will come when General Discussion is the largest forum.

I have a question: doesn't really matter to me but just courious:
I put a topic about Mushroom Error coins on the Main coin forum (which is really the only forum I ever go to).
Everyone Seemed to love to coins and I KnoW many of you would never have seen them in the error Coin section which is where I Knew they belonged.
I think the Admin DiD a perfect job with this post....they let it run for two days on the main coin forum and THEN moved it to the Error Coin Forum...just PERFECT IMO. Thanks ADMIN!!!
I guess my question is where do I put say a post about Mickey Mouse ERROR COINS? A few weeks from now I may or not post something like that...... if I put it in the error section so many Will never See such cool coins...what a shame.
I think the ADMIN did a Perfect job on my Mushroom Post...is that how it should work?
pS I did Not get an email

Agree with NancyC, Active Topics is an excellent way to see all postings in all topics since your last log in, or ones that come up while you are logged on, for that matter...I almost always start there.

This incident was handled very well and noone should have any complaints. On other message boards I see threads moved on a regular basis to the proper forums. It keeps everything organized and un-cluttered. quote: A place for everything and everything in its place!

Thanks Bobby & Co. you do a great job. I have received e-mails when my topics have been moved, no great drama. If you use the Active Topics button, you will get to see all the new posts, if you are interested in error coins or whatever then you can look, if not then you can skip them. It's a simple as that, let's not complicate this issue. Like Bobby has said before, put more precise info in the heading of the post and you may attract more people to view it. Just my worth. I might add that my experiences as Owner/Moderator of a number of email forums (fora) demonstrate that spamblockers are wreaking havoc with emails which are automatically generated (or have multiple recipients or whose domain or IP address has been "identified as a spam originator"). The problem lies wherein the spamblockers (e.g., SpamHaus, SpamCop) and the ISPs where installed think they know better than we do what email we should receive and not receive. I would rather receive 500 spam messages per day than miss a single legitimate (and thus important) message. I suspect if a CCF member has had a post moved to another topic and did not receive the automated email so stating that the member check his/her ISP to determine if it has a spamblocker installed. The only cure is to yell and scream at the ISP who has subscribed to a spamblocker service and threaten them with loss of business, lawsuit, jihad, or something which will make them stand up and take notice. It may be observed that I have absolutely no use for spamblockers. I consider them a form of censorship and a blight and pestilence on the email system.

Thoughts from a Moderator about once a month I go through the forum and look for illegally parked cars (posts that are in the wrong place) I call the tow truck and have them towed (Moved to the correct place). Sometimes I have to use a wheel boot (keep a topic locked) Other times I have to delay traffic (make a topic sticky). In my passion to keep traffic flowing, I sometimes forget to notify the owner that I have moved, delayed or ticked their vehicle. If I have done this to you, please forgive me- there is a lot of traffic to watch, besides between my work and this forum I receive over 200+ email a day. I will try to be more like officer friendly in the future. Oh by the way - sometime I do look the other way!

OK, this feature was not working correctly due to reasons beyond my control my stupidity. It's fixed now. quote: they let it run for two days on the main coin forum and THEN moved it to the Error Coin Forum...just PERFECT IMO. Thanks ADMIN!!!
There are several problems with that... First, if everything started in the Main Coin forum, nothing would get the attention it deserves because it would be on page 2 very fast, at peak times, within 30 minutes. Of all the forum views (pages that actually view topic titles) on this site, (about 200,000 a month) less than one half of one percent are page 2 or higher views. A topic moving to page 2 is the kiss of death. Second, the posters in the thread would then be left out to pasture when the topic is moved because only the topic starter would get an email, which the forum does automatically. It would take an incredible amount of time to move topics later, and have to email every poster in the threads manually to let them know. Third, some people are just not interested in errors, varieties, photography, or off-topic threads. It's absolutely not fair to make them wade through these to find what interests them. It's just better for everyone if the threads just start out where they belong. It's a whole lot more organized and fair to everyone as a whole.

Sorry about the slow response Bobby, but when you ask this question, I didn't know how or what to say. I haven't had a topic moved that I can remember (short term memory is a blessing at times)so had no way of knowing what the procedure was exactly. A e-mail or some method of notification should be a reasonable way of letting someone know where they may find their topic when they return to the forum. You said it was not working because of your stupidity, but I would only say that when it comes to these dang electrical gadgets, when it don't turn on, it's broke! That is as far as I have cared to enter this century of inventions. The rest of it is up to you who like to play with such toys. Have a good day Bobby and when it is all done and layed away, don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back for running a mighty fine ship. I salute you old buddy.
