Those are crappy photos,the rest of the 9 may well be there,and it may just be an illusion that the coin is bent.You won't know for sure without the coin in hand.If you're convinced it's damaged,buy it,examine it,take better photos,then you will be more able to convince others of ICCS shortcomings in this instance.

Sorry, but the pic is clear - half of the 9 is entirely obliterated...
I've BOUGHT ENOUGH DAMAGED COINS CERTIFIED AS OK BY ICCS
a few thousand worth...
I think its time for someone else to fall on the sword to prove the obvious...ICCS has no business being in business

Ironic that the 'damage' is in the very place we need to see whether this is a DP 1 or 2. Big bucks at stake for a photo that is blurry at just the right place. Unless of course it is actually damaged as suggested.
For the potential money involved here it is a risky bid imo.

Hmmm, now that my glasses are on I see this is a DP N9 'variation' type...not to be confused with type 1 or 2. Sorry for the assumption...would have edited my post but I do not hide my mistakes.
Wish I had any one of these variations.

Well that's just it...if most of the "9" is missing, its kind of hard to figure out the "variation"... In addition, anyone collecting these, likely wants to SEE the "9"...and not have a bent coin with the 9 obliterated, but a ICCS flip that tells you its EF40 and nothing wrong with it. I just want to slap those folks at ICCS. They're basically helping to destroy the hobby by sowing seeds of doubt in every online or long-distance transaction involving ICCS graded coins. There is so much junk...so many cleaned and damaged coins that they've attributed as completely fine, it makes me sick.  After I stepped on a few ICCS landmines, by buying cleaned or damaged coins that they attributed as "ok", I quit the "high end" coin market. That's a lot of potential investment in Canadian numismatics that will go elsewhere.  Go to $@%$ ICCS. You guys are lucky I dont have the energy or time to shut you guys down. Can't see a doggone thing in the area of the 9 of this poor image, but then I collect coins, not overpriced ICCS flips.

I've owned thousands of 1859 large cents. Some of the strikes even on better coins have been weak in places. I really can't see that much odd about the coin at all. Having also photographed thousands of coins I can say without hesitation camera angles and lighting can play havoc with the final image. Can't we just stop bashing ICCS? It's getting tired.

The seller answered my question on this with..."It is a perfect coin with NO BEND OR DEMEGE [sic]"
Didn't answer my question on whether the 9 was complete.

I must agree with Glenzy, the PCGS NFLD coins Danlos has up are some of the most inconsistently graded coins I have ever seen, in fact I've used them as examples showing other people how bad PCGS is at grading NFLD coins.

HA!..You guys are hilarious  I'll take a PCGS overgraded by 5 points coin, over a "harshly cleaned using a brillo pad ICCS says its ok beauty", any day!  BTW every one of my ICCS coins could be severely damaged! DISCLAIMER! BTW FEDOR...ICCS is the WORST at grading NFLD coins...25%-30% of ICCS NFLD coins come back from PCGS as severely damaged. My ICCS MS60 1908 50c came back PCGS AU55! Enjoy your "properly graded" harshly cleaned or PVC residue ICCS NFLD COLLECTION! You'll never be able to sell it to REAL collectors, the ones who dont recognize ICCS as a real grading company (that includes everyone outside Canada, including HERITAGE AUCTIONS)  Edited by canadian-varieties

Is that the sound of a dead horse being whipped again? I think you are already preaching to the coverted. Just be careful how broad of a brush you paint with, not every coin in an ICCS flip is bad. We, as collectors, generally buy the coin, not the holder, irrespective of the TPG.
