As I've ranted about b4, the whole TPG thing is now bordering on the absurd. Stickers, + grades and no real standards for grading (why else is there a hierarchy of TPG?)have made it a jungle of misinformation and a bottomless pit for those not in the know to fall into. Basically it is all a grab to get the Benjamins. TPGs WERE a good concept but like most things, greed has tarnished the system.

That's why my "Slider" concept is so deliciously absurd. It would be a sticker that immediately devalues your coin. Who wouldn't pay us $15 for such a privilege?

There's an ebay seller whose coins I'd never buy, he puts tons of extra stickers on the slabs- like "Wowsers" and "PQ" and "EYE APPEAL"

Why not "Slider"? And while we are at it, another sticker for COIN REGISTRY AUTHENTIFICATION PROTECTION or CRAP - that states that this coin is not currently in someone else's registry- an important factor when buying slabbed coins.

I know exactly which seller you are talking about! That seller drives me crazy, and the stickers and SO trashy looking! I can't imagine anyone buying one of those coins...

I am not completely discounting your idea. There are many people who pay "premiums" for Low-ball graded coins. If they had a sticker that verified that their Low-ball coin was likely over-graded, they would probably pay a premium for it. Crazier things have happened...

"Same price as one large pizza!"
"Same price as four large pizzas!"

Yeah, we know the seller.

I believe if CAC is going to be in business, they should ALSO apply stickers to coins that are over AND under graded.

Google "Omaha Hoard" for a bulk example list of coins that are OVER graded.

The SLIDERS ad, as seen in COIN magazine

Overgraded coins got you down? Were you totally bummed out that that SGS MS-70 Bust Dollar was actually PCGS AG-03 (CORRODED)? Were you caught off guard by the plummeting value of your prized 2004 Jefferson nickel when you found out it wasn't MS-66 Full Steps but instead an MS-65 with no step designator? If so, then you've fallen victim to sliders.

Sliders are those coins which could go either way. To a trained numismatist these devilishly in between grade coins are often sold for whole grades higher, sometimes they are even mislabeled as the wrong series, or variety.

When's the last time you saw a 1909 Indian cent sold as a more common 1909 Lincoln Cent? It happens all the time.

That's why the trained numismatists at CCF have developed the Slider designation. We evaluate hundreds of top tier graded coins and determine based on photos of file sizes under 100K if the coin is under or overgraded. If the coin is undergraded, we let it be. It is not a slider. But if it is overgraded, we apply our patented ink-guard holographic sticker. If the slab is ever altered or damaged, the corrosive black ink will spill out of the sticker and permanently stain the coin- making it impossible for slab crackers to constantly resubmit coins, artificially inflating populations, and lowering the value of good valuable coins.

But that's not all. We provide CRAP service. CRAP stands for Coin Registry Assurance Protection. If you've ever bought a coin in someone else's registry, then you'll know how much of a hassle it is to register your coin. We are sure you will find our CRAP service heads and tails above the rest of the industry.

Of course, once established, you will need to create a second tier of (de)grading for your A-List clientele. It will be offered by the Organization of Learned Authenticators.

The new, additional label would read: CRAP-OLA.

Then we need to start a school to train future authenticators...a McUniversity for coins nerds.

Attached is one of my favorite (humorous) examples of this guy's over-use of slab stickers.

My-Answer-To-CAC---Sliders

NOTE the spelling of the word "CHEEP".

From dictionary.com:

cheep
--noun
1. the short weak high-pitched cry of a young bird; chirp
--verb
2. (intr) (of young birds) to utter characteristic shrill sounds

And the correctly spelled word isn't much better:

"Cheap now usually suggests shoddiness, inferiority, showy imitation, complete unworthiness, and the like."

A better word is "bargain" or "inexpensive". In the case of this seller, "cheap" may indeed be the most appropriate word.

I'd think a coin with 101% eye appeal would grade out at MS-66 or MS-67.

Would an incredibly heavy coin have a sticker that said, "Monster Tonning"?

Every SGS slab qualifies for a "slider" sticker.
