Nice coin.

I went with one of those to fill a commemorative half hole in my 7070 due to it being one of the lowest price classic commemoratives along with the Columbian Expo and the George Washington Carver / Booker T Washington coins (which are my other 2)

I'm rooting for you to get all 18.

Well ... I've shared widely my goal of collecting two 50-coin USA classic silver commemorative type sets ... one set MS and one set honestly circulated.

To that end I have the Booker T. Washington example covered to my satisfaction as a type collector ... and sincerely applaud your efforts to collect all 18 BTW if you choose to do so.

All 18 examples would be a great set to own and share with us!

To your question ... with a few humble photos if I may ...

My MS BTW is a lovely brilliant white, cartwheel luster and well struck 1950-S. PCGS MS66/CAC approved.



My circulated BTW is a FR2/AG3 1946 Philly mint coin ... the date can actually be seen in hand ...



Compare my 1946 to yours ... a wonderful visual example of the history of these coins and IMHO indicative of the nature of the post-war times in the USA ... some folks were well enough off to save coins ... and to some the coin was a means to purchase daily needed things.

At the risk of being labeled boring ... I offer the following insights for yotie consideration if he chooses to chase this set of BTW ...

Please be mindful that 99.99% of collectors out there are unaware of quality strike BTW ... and this gives you a great advantage to actually assemble (cherrypick) a quality set ... at no additional cost ... if you have the patience to do so.

By quality I am referring to visual appeal and fullness of strike ... not grade. Quality coins can be found in AU50 as well as high MS ... and there are tons of MS BTW out there lacking quality.

Most BTW can be found with minimal toning ... so blotchy toned eye appeal is not normally the issue for collector grade coins.

The big difference that distinguishes a quality BTW is the fullness of strike.

Nearly all BTW are weakly struck ... and the weakness always shows on the obverse portrait of Mr. BTW himself. Note in particular the cheeks and area from nose down to his neck ... weakness of strike shows as original planchet marks that were not removed as metal failed to fill that high point of the design during strike.

I humbly suggest that for no additional cost ... but some time and patience ... you can find a full set of quality strike BTW ... the key is knowing what to look for.

Truly hoping my post is not an imposition or burden ... not trying to impose my standards on anyone ... just sharing in the hope this is helpful as an insight.
