Of course, he then asked if maybe the Tooth Fairy would bring him a Morgan dollar next time, and I said I didn't think so...

You started it so don't get cheap on him now.
Just kidding, but I was thinking the same thing after reading half way through your post. Here is an Idea. With the holidays coming up, and if he happens to lose a tooth during that time frame, a Morgan under the pillow would be something he would never forget.

I'm guessing that was at least a few years ago, back before silver hit $40+/ounce...

Actually, it was within the last couple of months. Part of me thought, "I wished I lived at your house," but part of me also thought, "that's unfair to the kids... they can't spend it."

Next time, give the little greedhead a quarter and a note that says "if I have to come back, I'm bringing my pliers and taking them all!"

I have been giving my child Sacagewea dollars when he looses a tooth. I think Ike's would have been even better, but I didn't have any on hand when I started the process just didn't spend that much time thinking about it.

I LOL'ed when I read your child asked for a Morgan dollar.

biggfred => man, your lucky kids must brush their teeth several times a day, to prevent a repeat visit from the night-monster and his dirty pliers! (keep-up the good work!)

We never left money when the kids were young, it was always a little toy.
