Toronto1--No, I am not buying coins to package them and then sell at a higher price. I enjoy wildlife and find this series to be some of the best examples of realistic wildlife on coins. I plan to keep what I have. I just prefer to have original capsules and boxes as I find that more appealing to myself. I have seen coins without boxes sell for more than coins with boxes and vise versa. It all depends on who wants it. Only 3 of the 1/10oz coins issued individually in the green boxes, and two more were issued individually with the maroon box. If I were to collect all the 1/10oz coins, I wouldn't mind putting them each in a green box if I had them. Obviously that is not how they were issued since the remaining coins do not have certificates. So yeah, the packaging and capsules are just the way I like to house mine.

Fuzzy317--Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately for me, I have no dealers around here who deal in Canada Platinum or Platinum in general. The ones I have talked to about the Canada Platinum wildlife have no clue what it is and don't believe it is platinum because it does not have "platinum" stamped on the coins. Even when I have shown them the coins in the Charlton catalogs, those I have met around here just have no interest and don't care to help.

^^^
Try emailing some dealers with pictures of the packaging you are looking for.
http://colonialacres.com/m/content/...content_id=6 might have some or some of the other Canadian dealers.

My 1999 millennium quarter set has 4 cracked capsules. Would be glad to find supplies for them.

Hi Canadian_Coins, just curious, did those capsules crack due to age? I've been collecting coins only for a few years, just wondering if I should take preemptive measures i.e. replacing the capsules every 10 years? TIA

If worst comes to worst, just buy acrylic screw capsules of the next size up from the coin, and insert a circumferential styrofoam cushion around the rim of the coin inside the capsule.

I have done that with an FDC proof British 1937 George V1 five sovereign crown sized gold coin. For me, that was a perfectly satisfactory solution to the problem.

C_C: I always enjoy looking at your pics. They are done nicely and show off the coin in a nice light. :) That picture isn't so nice... I hope you didn't have a bad day and take a hammer to those capsules... :p

Hopefully it's a good story.

C_C I think the standard capsules fit that case if I recall correctly. I dropped mine on the floor when I first got it and had to replace a bunch of them. Email me if you want a couple samples of different types so you know what to buy. Can't compare to one of my own because I turned it over to the kids so it's not here now but I'd be happy to mail you a couple so you can see.

The capsules I showed in my previous post were all from the 1999 silver millennium set (to my knowledge) and they all cracked spontaneously .

They all cracked on the reverse. Actually, half of the capsules have cracks. So this is a mystery.

Apologies for the low quality pictures.. Once I get replacement capsules I will update the team.

^^^ I was joking about the pictures C_C (against the RCM, not you!) :) The pictures are fine - it is the RCM who should be embarrassed about the product and packaging they sell. If the capsules just cracked I think the RCM should send out replacements. I was hoping (for the RCM sakes) you dropped them or something by mistake. The RCM should send out new capsules and invest in a little better grade of plastic and buy the rights to your picture so no one can see their "quality". That picture makes the RCM products look terrible. I do like see your pictures when the RCM gets it right though, you show the RCM products in a nice light. :)
