The "War of 1812" actually lasted until 1815. It is usually the final ending of a war that is commemorated, rather than the beginnings of wars. But for Britain, what Americans call the "War of 1812" was merely a part of the greater worldwide conflict Britain was involved with at the time. The Treaty of Ghent may have formally ended the American war in February 1815, but for Britain the fat lady didn't sing until after the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815 and the resultant Paris Treaty of November 1815.
Britain will probably issue a great many Waterloo bicentenary coins in 2015.

I'm with Ugly on this one. This was a conflict between the US and GB. I would go as far as to say that 1982 was the birth of Canada, however, with the g20 crap last year I hate to say our country is as dead as disco. We're living in a disguised dictatorship.

I like the idea of both counties issuing common reverse legal tender. Politics aside, I think it would be good economically for both countries, as well as possibly prompting collectors on both sides to collect examples from every mint!?!

Seems to me that the chance of having those coins is more than 75 percent since the Royal Canadian Mint celebrates everything. |

I think this applies to most wars and skirmishes that got started by the British empire. There are just too many.
