tights24, I am given a slight impression that yours was dipped at one stage although I am not too sure. I hope that's not the case!

Acquired my own 1937 crown recently...it came in the mail yesterday. Looking at the reverse, I'm kind of concerned that it may have been cleaned. Opinions?

I got one of these crown coins plus a lot of older Aussie coins at a gun show on Sunday for "3 for $1". So is 1937 the only main year everyone collects?

They were only minted in 1937 and 1938. Mintage in 1938 was only 101000 and prices are 4-5x the 1938 compared with the 1937. I guess this explains why the 1937's are more popular.

As for the best crowns, PCGS pop report shows 4 at MS64 and only 1 at MS65.. 13 coins at MS63

You think they would have spelled Australia correctly.

It is surely a wonderful coin - love the design of the crown

How are the prices of Aussie issues over there compared with elsewhere?

G'day NumisMattyUk, you ask -
"How are the prices of Aussie issues over there compared with elsewhere?"
It seems to me that coins & notes are most readily available, and most sought after, in their country of issue.
I mostly collect Australian coins, so I regularly check overseas sites for what's available. There's not a lot of it, but it's often not expensive.

Agree with Peter: You can get bargains on both foreign websites for Australian coins, and on ebay USA.

I got my 37 crown. I went to the shop today and they had a 38 in MS condition...they want $65 for it, but told me they would take $60, is that a good deal?

A 38 for 65 in MS is a steal. If it really is in MS I'd buy 20 at that price.

Thanks...just what I needed to know, Markn. Guess I'll be making a trip downtown tomorrow!
