I purchased 2 BUs and 2 Proofs and have already rec'd them. They are very nice, they are not loose in the case and the cases were not cracked. A+ this time around.

I received my Silver Proof yesterday. I like it and I was thinking of buying the Uncirculated one.

I received my proof as well. Still waiting for the circ. It is a very nice commemorative in hand, and the etching on the obverse is very nice. I especially like the "Founding Jamestown" and date inscription recessed through the design.

I got a silver Proof as a surprise late Valentine's present from my dad! I'd rather have a coin than chocolate- the coin will last longer! Really nice coin, the detail is incredible. I think I might like the reverse better than the obverse... Is it just me, or does the Indian look kinda ticked off? Maybe he had an idea what was gonna happen in the future? "Uh, oh... There goes the neighborhood."

I have a complete collection of modern unc. silver commems. so I ordered 1 silver unc. Though I havn't received yet, the pix look really nice. I enjoy the historical aspect of coins and prefer the unc. to proof because of the variations. To me modern proofs are boringly alike and are all PF69 or 70.

If you think the silver is beautiful, then check out the gold proof. That has to be one of my favorite coins. I especially like the fact that the mint chose the Jamestown Memorial Church for the reverse. I'm really happy to own one.

These are very attractive coins.

Is it still possible to order them through the mint?

I don't see these selling out. Right now both silver and the uncirculated gold aren't expected to ship unitl mid to late March.

Interesting, the $5 gold proof is only $10 more than the uncirculated one. I wonder why someone would buy the unc for $245 when the proof is only $255. I'm tempted but I think I'm going to wait a bit and buy the 2007 AGEs. I find it hard to resist those fractional pieces, may even pick up an ounce coin this year. Hey, any word on the fractional Buffaloes?

Hello Everyone,

Its a very nice coin but in my opinion its one of those modern commemorative coins that I chose to skip.

Eric,
My initial reaction when I first viewed images of the coin was the same. It didn't initially appeal to me as much as the Ben Franklin and SF Mint commemorative. I was going to pass on it and wait for something more exciting to come along. Then there was a post here a month or two back, members were sharing their enthusiasm having just received their coins from the mint. Reading their posts forced me to take a second look at the piece, at which time I appreciated the the amount of work and detail that went into the both the obverse and reverse. Both sides of the coin really are amazing works of art. The historical significance of the event being commemorated can't be denied. So the Jamestown Commemorative coins are back on my short list, I'm going to order them when I get my 2007 AGEs.

So I guess the moral to the story is, "enthusiasm is contagious." Who knows, maybe you'll take a second look at the coin and decide there's room for one or two in your collection.

The thing is that most people feel the same way. So everyone orders the proof, and then in a year or two they discover that the unc is the low mintage piece and it is the one that goes up in value. Look at most of the modern commems. For most of them it is the Unc that is the lower mintage, sometimes much lower, and in most cases it now sells for more money.
