I know it's tough to find out exactly what day of the week
a certain coin would be graded but maybe worthwhile to add a note stating: Please do not grade my coin on a monday or friday. Monday's the graders are still hungover after the weekend and those same graders start the weekend on friday's
lunch break. No kidding, that cow was pink I swear it !

Well I guess calling it red is better than calling it red-brown or brown. They don't have any other designation in their current numbering system, so I assume since the zinc is still clean they call it red with the copper missing.

Well, it's finally back from PCGS!    I'm not too thrilled with the placement. I think the obverse should be showing on the front of the slab instead of the reverse. It's not a big enough worry for me to send it back in though. I'm tickled with the 66 grade... |

Thats a great looking coin...GREAT FIND :)
I been getting Brinks boxes from my local bank.Sometimes I think they already searched them before the roll them...lol.Never find much in them.Now I'm getting the $50 bags before the bank sells them to Brinks.Or also the paper rolled coins ,poeple turn into the banks.There I find all kinds of good coins.

The 66 grade is nice. Given how few errors escape the mint these days, that's a real coup. They can't be common that nice.

What are you going to do with it now? I don't have a clue yet David. I'll probably end up selling it eventually. I've mentioned in the past...I don't collect errors, but I do enjoy finding them. I'm still unsure as to the value of this one. The MS66 grade, along with the 2011 date might make it desireable to an error collector. |

Is there any possibility the copper could have been chemically removed from the coin without damaging the zinc?

The biggest thing for me is that it still has "Mint Luster"....if it was chemically removed or altered there would be no mint luster.... I also am a little lost on the Slab.... How is that coin "Red"... MS66RD? |

The mint luster is the thing to look for on these. Kind of a satin look to them. I've seen clear ones also, but the zinc added to the coins PMD leaves a rough finish. Plating makes them too shiny. |
