Very nice!  I started mine in 1993. I just realized that was almost twenty years ago and I still have sixteen holes to fill. Be prepared for a long journey, but I hope you do not take as long as I have.  |

Have fun. I did one of these a few years back. The early coppers and the Seated dollars were the most difficult for me. Recently decided to do the 7070 again, but this time with Mint State, or as close thereto as possible, NGC or PCGS slabbed coins. I'm about 40% done so far, but haven't tried for the high dollar stuff yet. |

I probably don't want to ask this as it is liable to head me in another area...but what exactly is a 7070 book? I'm mostly just accumulating the pre-64 silver coins but in the process, I'm planning to get alot of them so if they happen to fill a book or two in the process, all the more fun right? Thanks, Earl

A 7070 is refering to the album made by Dansco, which is a US type set. One of every type of coin the US has ever minted.

Thanks Yankee, just curious with current values if you don't take into account the gold page about how much would one invest in a 7070 for average circulated condition coins ? How much if one does get bit and opts for the gold too?

 , jleveille! Earl- The idea behind collecting by type is that you can spend more on higher grade coins if you don't have to pay premiums for scarce dates or dozens of coins only differing by their dates. |

The place to start is research the coins, set a goal and stick to it. If you stick to this you will never be disappointed when you open your 7070 and flip through it.

I have been working on mine for 5 years. I am down to the seated stuff but the seated and Trade dollars are a bit pricey. Take your time and be picky about what you put in it. Enjoy the adventure and the ride.  |

I am having a fun time trying to grab certain coin lots from ebay. I do have an upcomming show here in Pittsburgh so I am kind of holding out on spending cash right now. The hunt goes on! |

I found that ebay is a great place to get started with a lot of coins for the 7070, but when it came time to lay down serious bucks to upgrade some my coins I definitely wanted to see the coins in person and discuss them with the dealer, which is why I attended a show here in Boston. |
