lets keep it to two guesses per person, I know I should have said that in the first post but forgot about it, that way we don't have one or two people just throwing out guesses until they get it correct. But your second guess was incorrect also

The first million dollar sale of a single private coin collection was that of George F. Scanlon auctioned by Stack's on Oct. 24-27, 1973. It brought $1,093,890.00. He had only collected for 10 years.

I am pretty sure this is it, I copied and pasted to try and be quick.

Well, hope this works....

The first collection:
Miklós Jankovich (1773-1846)
had...1,002 gold coins (almost 2219 ducats in weight-value; 978 survive); 2,300 silver coins; 6,020 other coins: 163 are Greek or barbarian, 1,622 Roman, 91 Byzantine, 2,883 Hungarian, 320 Transylvanian and 586 from other European countries; 451 are commemorative issues.

Some were sold.. Some were lost.....
This is the oldest I could find...

LOL....

I know its wrong...But its interesting!

In US maybe its Reivers collection to be sold....

Hm....
Good luck rest of you guys!

Either that or make it last for 48 hours, allow one guess per person, and be ready to either have a tie breaker or have multiple winners and multiple coins ready to mail1!!!

Maybe what was the first Morgan you bought? Unless the long time family members know that already....Than you could make it the first MS68 or 67 Morgan you bought. Again, if it's in your image gallery, that would narrow it down quite a bit.

Anyway, just trying to give you ideas so we can squeeze some more of that collection out of you...lololol

I personally think you did a great job on the first one, and your gift to this forum is your knowledge and patience anyway.

Darn! Missed out. What tightz said is a good idea. Make it longer with a tie breaker so more people can get in!

Start another one after Metalman's is done. These are fun.

Why don't you start one after metalman's contest, no reason to have the same people always doing the giveaway's
