Everything that could be said about this coin has been. If it is not MS66 I quit! What a stunning example.

Okay - Here's the slab. She's a proof 65BN. Without the rim showing it's tough for anyone to tell a matte proof because the rims are a key diagnostic.

This piece was hand selected by Mark Feld at a Heritage auction and I bought it from him. SuperDave is right about the obverse strike showing slight weakness otherwise it should be a PR66BN.

Thanks for all the guesses!

Great coin! If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay?

Too much!

It was $975 delivered. I believe the coin has a shot at an upgrade which I might attempt. It also has more color than I can get into my images. Here's an image from Mark Feld that shows the color better:

Very nice. I might have gotten the PR with his pics. Or at least questioned the wide flat rim on the reverse. MPL!

Are the images from Mark Feld closer to the in hand appearance? I'm almost seeing two different coins here.

Ah. Given that it's a Proof, I understand the grade; IMO Proofs should be held to a higher standard. Glad you mentioned it, so I no longer have to be jealous of you.

Interesting. Love the pictures. Congrats again!

I sent in a 1909 VDB that so closely resembles your 1910 for authentication/grading.....I serious hope it is a proof. Has the strike.....has the flat rim...but does not have the die marker(s) for a MPL 09 vdb. If it does, you can bet it will be sold so I can buy an extremely nice 09 S VDB for my set. Don't know the grade...or even if it graded...should know early next week.

Kind of in-between. Mark's pics capture the color a bit better but mine are larger and capture the detail better I think.

I did use Slab-Renew on this one to clean up some scuffs. I think this coin could go PR66BN on a given day.

I had thought the luster was a tad weak for an uncirculated of this quality but the thought it was a proof did not cross my mind. I have always found these difficult to distinguish from the business strikes and now knowing it is a proof it makes perfect sense. Beautiful coin!

Hot dam! I was the only one who came close, and only missed by a point. My guess was before I saw page 2.

Agree with the fact Proof coins are held to a higher example than business strikes, and they should be.

Mark is an awesome guy and a great grader, I attended a course at ANA S/S where he taught advanced grading along with Don Bonser and my old high school buddy Keith Love. Mark really knows his stuff, I'd buy coins from him too!

HAHAHAHA.....I had my suspecions on PR but many of the biz strikes resemble proofs so I tend to be conservative.

NICE COIN! Feld is a great guy, excellent buy.
