Its a 1998 BK prefix (still quite a rare note in its normal form I think?) BK98851457
Picked it up in flat condition, pretty much UNC, but due to poor handling, probably EF now :(
Other side is normal.
I've always wanted to know what its worth, and how many others are out there like it...

It's not exactly a common note, it'd be something that I'd love to put in my note collection.
Spewing it's not in UNC.
I would be saying rare. I've come across print errors & notes missing print, but not any missing one sides colour.
The 1998 $100 were a smaller print of $100, but account for over 5% of $100 notes. Remembering that the 2010 $100 print accounts for around 13%.
In a few years I've encountered three or four CF98's which is about the same as 1996 first prefix test note AN96 & CS96.
The CF98's had a print run of 555,500
The AN96 & CS96 each had a print run of 352,000 (being scarcer.
The issue with $100 is they aren't used as often so they stay in the system much longer.
You're not interested in selling it are you?

Not looking at selling at the moment, sorry.
Its such a gorgeous note.
I did take it up to the local coin shop and they gave me the same grading sheet that you had in another thread.
It would grade about at best aUNC and at very worse at the highest end of EF. There is one easily seen crease and 1 or 2 smaller ones only seen looking along the length of the note.

It's actually called a missing simultan phase/simultan printing phase. Very rare. At auctions they will sell for a very nice price. That'll pay you for a week, rather than a few hours. Have a look at the following link: http://www.noble.com.au/auctions/se...043;&c=70&s=Also, Downies (Auction307) sold a $20 with no simultan phase on either side in UNC for $3000 plus commissions on an estimate of $2000. I'd say it'd be worth between $800 - $1200. |

Nice notes. The two you got from circulation are in very good nic considering. The last week I've been checking every note that goes in my wallet. I have the bug for banknotes now.

The man thing I'm concerned with is it is much more expensive than keeping the occasional 50c from noodling.

Thanks to the McDonald and Rennik's guides, this forum, and ebay I'm now checking everything before I put it into my wallet too. People behind me must think I'm not from around here having a quick look at each note / coin.. Have found a couple of First and Last prefixes, but in the condition they were in they were not worth putting aside as yet. I've seen people selling these cards showing the special prefixes for a ridiculous price! I need to work out how to get the first, last and test prefixes, onto a card that can fit into my wallet, with current values on there for reference. |

Great notes AppleAngel07. The ones you've found in circulation are in great condition too. My problem now is that I collect too many of them. I've gotta start selling some to re-invest in others. But they're just so nice. Numbers...numbers...numbers.

Most likely not,
they just put in orders for what they need, security delivers. realistically notes dont come straight from the printer either, they are stored for sometimes a few years before they are used. you could go into your bank and pull some fresh 07's quite easily, I did it the other month:P

Banks just get money as joshtammi said. They get old, new & mixed. Some ATM's are fed straight with fresh crisp UNC notes & my customers pay me every now & then with fresh consecutive notes which is when you realise that new notes are floating around. That's how I got a repeater 271271 with a two consecutives 271272 & 271273. But the likelihood of getting something good is very slim.

I got a run of 14 consecutive DA 07 $50 notes from a local ATM 3/4 years ago,i only have 5 left as I sold some in pairs & singles.
At a small profit over course,i think it worked out that I got to keep my run of 5 at a cost of $50.

Very nice AppleAngel, that's the best way to make money. A pity it was a high print, but it's still a last prefix which I'd consider to be more collectable than a first prefix.
