Quote: ^ Just like most coins that are not circulated, they carry a premium. Plus GST... Quote: 20 new coins were just released! talk about good timing! Cannot see all the Titanics, still.

I saw in a dealer's ebay listings for each of the Titanic coins what looks to be a 'cut-and-paste' of the RCM's info sheet on the coins. It lists 28 February as the advertising date for the coins and 5 March as the launch date. Maybe this means they will be available on the RCM website beginning on Monday.

Generally how quickly do new releases sell out? Could I afford to wait a week or two for the Titanic coins before ordering let's say a 50c roll or niobium wolf?

I just bought the set of three Titanic coins at the Talisman website here in the U.S. Typically they are more expensive but my total was $124.85, which is a dollar cheaper than the combined RCM price. Individually they are priced $64.95, $39.95 and $24.95. I guess they suspect the fifty cent piece will be the hotter item. I wasn't going to bother with the $0.25 one but my son will like the fold out card.

These niobium coins are actually quite interesting. This new one is quite aesthetically pleasing. I just hope it looks just as good or better in hand.
On the downside, those Swarovski coins are just bad taste. The idea is nice but you should be able to custom build your own with your own stones. I'm guessing the technology isn't quite there yet to use precious stones?

^ I hadn't paid much attention to the Niobium coins as I can't justify the expense. But Libertad is right, these are quite interesting. After reading a bit more about them, I found that because of the oxidization process no 2 coins will have the exact same finish.
Even with the uniqueness of these coins I still cannot justify the cost. Great looking coins though, and quite interesting.

^I will be interested in seeing what the next oxidized coin will be once the niobiums are done. I guess the Dinosaurs Fossil were oxidized silver coins, which I couldn't resist. I just wish the oxidized niobium's were larger, less expensive, and less Toonie looking.

"less toonie looking"... no argument there, they do look like glorified toonies.

I only like the Wolf. I don't collect 50 cents, but it is the only way to get them for those who do like them. The rest are boring.
