I believe this is one of those times that the sentimental value would greatly outweigh their intrinsic value. I wish my grandmother was still around and know if she was and if she would have given me anything there would be no way I would ever sell it. Every time you look at those notes you can think of the day you were helping her and found them, that is the stuff that makes the notes priceless in my mind

Bryan, you and I are 1000% in agreement. My grandfather started collecting coins during the Great Depression. (He was extremely fortunate and only out of work for 6 weeks, so he had $5 a week he used to buy rolls of pennies, nickels, and dimes to go through...) When I was little, I helped him with quarters, halves, and dollars, as well as keeping his smaller denomination collections going. Eventually, he got too old, and just started buying Mint Sets, and I discovered girls, cars, etc... My dad started getting into a Morgan dollar craze, and he and grandpa dabbled in some gold. I then talked dad into looking at paper money, and all of us worked on that a little here and there. The last ten years before dad died he started getting my daughter into the State Quarters, so now she's (hopefully) getting interested, but my fervent hope is just that she appreciates that she could be the 4th generation of collector in the family, and that she keeps it going and passes it onto her kids when she has them.

THAT'S cool! My Mom has prmoised me my Dad's collection but I haven't seen it yet. I know he collected Lincoln cents, Bicentennial Washington quarters ( ), and I've seen a few Peace dollars and one Morgan. Who knows what else might be there?

for a second I thought this post was about a mass grave of grandmas in an attic. Very glad that's not the case :P
