Well, My budget isn't HUGE But I can get a decent start on both from a morgan and Peace dollar junk bin. They sell for silver or alittle higher

I say Morgan. You can find way more Morgans (common or rare) in the market than you can Peace dollars. Though Peace dollar is a shorter set to complete.

There are, I believe, 95-96 different Morgan dollars (1878-1921 including P,CC, O and S, not including VAMs) and only 24 different Peace dollars (1921-1935, including P,D and S, not including the ``all melted`` 1964 Peace dollar) so of course Peace dollars will be easier to complete.

The Morgan design is more attractive, and is in that period of American history which I think more Americans know a little more about. I guess the reason for that is perhaps this period is more often taught in schools.

Congrats on your 1000th post coincollect1. I vote Peace dollars because I like them better.

most key dates? . . Morgans

most affordable? . . Peace

my preference? . . Morgans

I have the complete Peace dollar set and will never complete the Morgans yet they are still my personal choice. The key word is "personal". If you lean toward Morgans, a partial set will be more enjoyable than the full Peace set.

I disagree..most Americans know very little about any period in our history...In fact, most Aussies know our history better than we do....IMO

Oh and you should collect Bust Half Dollars....

Well, after reading some of these comments, I might go for the Peace dollar collection and finish it. I like the Morgan design way better, but so many of them and a lot of them a higher priced. But I will collect the Morgans if I can get them for the right price.

For sure go with the Morgan dollar. If you know someone in China, you can get almost an entire collection for a sort of cheap price. Not sure but I don't think they make the Piece types over there.

I voted Peace dollars. I think it would be much easier to assemble a Peace dollar set. I personally like both designs.
I would try to do both though as they come along for you. There are some pretty $alty Morgans though to get a hold of.
