It's amazing how, in those photos of the spread out currency, you can only find Washington peeping out from between the larger denominations and not actually on top of anything.

The high bidder has around 155 feedback.

LATE EDIT: 2 hours and 50 minutes later since my post ....
I get an email from ebay since I was a bidder ( at $3000.00 ).

what did ebay do?

If the seller is from a hijack scenario, did they actually appeal to ebay to get the listing reinstated? That would be bold I must say.

If the seller is legit, wouldn't they be a bit disturbed by ebay's interference?

It all spelled mess from the start.


It was removed for awhile but now it has reappeared and I got another email from ebay but it is unclear whether the high bidder wins the auction or not since it says that I can bid on the item in the future if it gets re-listed by the seller.

Except the listing has NOT been pulled by ebay. If it was, you'd get the "this listing is no longer available" page.

This strikes me as typical of ebay. They know they'll have to pull a listing, but they get a bunch of publicity, so they let it go, then pull it after it ends.

For a short while it was on the "this listing is no longer available" page then it reappeared after I got a second email from ebay as if it ended with a couple retractions and a high bidder.




I had to think like a crook which takes some imagination for me since I have no practice but I do have experience of all sorts of scammers and have been ripped off. I also woke up one morning to find I was selling complete sets of golf clubs on ebay at a bargain price.
( I was hijacked once myself )
So I got to thinking, if this is a hijacked account, the original owner of this ebay account is at this time, completely unaware of this activity since the email address linked to their account is now some yahoo or gmail of the hijackers and any communication goes to the hijacker.
Since the listing was unavailable for a short time, the hijacker probably took the extra step and appealed to ebay as if it were their own. ( That's the bold part I was talking about )

They ask for this in the listing:

So they will get $1,000.00 right away and have that eBayers email to boot.

Once they had the ebay account they simply change the Paypal account but they probably at least get $1,000.00 sent right away and end up with at least that much. If I were a crook, I would have them send that $1,000.00 using a request for payment and have it sent to a different account or probably have a money order sent to a PO Box.

I wish I could contact the real owner of this ebay account but contacting the member through ebay would only get me through to the hijacker.

Well, now that I bid, I probably will get some attempt from them to give up some clue so they can try and get into my account along with all the rest of them.

If I won such an auction, I would agree to pay in cash and pick up the lot at some location. I would have the cops nearby me when we met and have them move in on the sting.

I understand this is big business though and even if somebody came to meet me, they would only be a pawn in the gang and I am 100% sure they wouldn't show up with the auction lot. I would only be there to get robbed at the meeting place.

It was back, the bidder left feedback, but once again it has been removed.
