Great idea. Only problem I see is just how many can find it in the future. Always my way of wondering what happens to so many good ideas that just fade away. A site like that would be a great Sticky or separate forum right here, somewhere. That way any questions about fakes could be sent there. Unfortunately there are to many separate sites about coins and people tend to miss many of them and eventually they just fade away. An example of this is http://www.coppercoins.com Used to be a great place for Lincoln Cent information but since so seldom used, now being shut down.

Huge thanks to SteveCaruso. What a great resource, I have always been apprehensive about buying higher valued coins because of the risk of fakes. Having another resource to help educate myself is worth more than anything.

@Coinstar - Always looking for contributions! The rule is anything at all is appreciated, so long as it's fake. :-) There's a counterfeit donation form here with instructions: http://fakes.numismetrica.com/count...-2010-04-11/@Merc Man - Glad it's a help! The more I come across, the more I'll document, as that means the more that's out there to combat counterfeiting.

Quote: If I recall correctly, Coppercoins shut down his forum, not the whole site. True. Also, used to be more on this forum. Just not enough usage on the forum. As to this subject of fakes. Why not a web site, books, etc. on fakes? Should really be as many as possible. At many of the coin shows I attend, there are sometimes tables of books on coins. Almost any kind imaginable so why not a few on fakes? I seldom see any there on that subject. And just as much as any TPGS, a place to send a coin for varification just must have some type of charge or eventually just fade away due to expenses. On an additional note, I just went to coppercoins web site and it still is open or he opened it again. He did post a note some time back that it was to be shut down but may have changed his mind.
