These are beauties, with excellent detail. DVC has sparked my interest in these coins with all the ones he has been posting. Now that I see the ones you found, I really need to find some too. Congrats.

Steve, I consider those a very nice group, and you did well negotiating the price. Regarding authenticity, I could not find a mark against them, nor against this seller on any blacklist or board, and he's sold under this name since 2005. I suspect this guy is a dealer, because your average ebay seller doesn't state "No time limit in the unlikely event a coin was found to be a forgery."

They are all great coins. I especially like coin #2. The nomos (I think this can also be called a didrachm) of Neapolis with Parthenope wearing her triple pendant earrings, beaded necklace & hair up is absolutely beautiful. I guess Italian women were even glamorous in 300BC. I sure would like to add a coin like this to my collection.

thanks ... yah, I am amazingly excited to actually get these coins home!
All three of these coins have great personality (I'm not sure which of the lot is my favorite?) ...
pirate1707 => "I guess Italian women were even glamorous in 300BC" ... that made me chuckle! ... => I agree => she is certainly wearing a lot of 'bling'

Also,in regard to coin #2, I believe the words numismatists, numismatics, etc. were derived from this denomination ie. "nomos"

Very nice! Thanks for sharing. Seems like DVC did all the work and all you did was pay for them, Steve. DVC..... Steve is your best friend now. You now have him hooked and where you want him. You can lead him around on a leash, I bet, right now. He will follow you anywhere. Steve..... don't make DVC mad. He knows how to get even with you. It is so much fun spending someone else's money. He can easily lead you down the wrong path and you would not have a clue. Be nice to him. To self....... try not to show your jealousy and just act polite.

thanks DVC ... I absolutely love the searching for interesting coins part of the hobby ... and I love the research behind the monarchs and/or the "emperors and gods" in this case ... but I am the first to admit that I am very weak at the research-side that is associated with "counterfeits" ... and luckily, this seems to be the part of the game that DVC enjoys the most ... => thanks again for showing interest and helping me out (very appreciated)

Quote: luckily, this seems to be the part of the game that DVC enjoys the most Steve, happy to help! What I find most interesting about fraud detection is how it involves gaining an better appreciation of the skill and artistry involved in making the originals--by directly comparing your coins to the scores of fakes out there. It's worth the effort, and you'll be left with a better understanding of what it took the Greeks and Romans to make these coins.
