prolly not too many bags of silver for the TP. I mean people did survive before the invention of TP.

Stuff that gets eaten, burnt up, shot up... Etc may be important but at some point people will need something to hold value in. Sooner or later trading a chicken for a bucket of rice won't cut it because eventually your gonna start to load up on items you cant keep or dump or use fast enough. That's just my opinion though.

I don't need a stash. I can always use the coin I have in my collection as I think a coin collection will be at the bottom of a long list of priorities.

I would opt for dimes but I think you would be better advised to stock up on trade goods like coffee or liquor or tobacco products. I think extra ammo would be a stellar choice as well.

I recommend silver for bugout scenarios. Specifically, Winchester Silvertips. With enough of those, you won't need coins.

In case some weird doomsday thing happens, gold coins .999 or better would probably be better than silver.

Sadly, I have to agree.

OK, financial collapse, doomsday is a bit strong. Gold is less weight and more highly regarded. IMHO the PMs, except platinum are over valued.

Good luck finding someone who can make change for your 1oz gold when you go to trade for something. That would be like trying to spend a $10,000 bill.

Spending 1 oz of gold would be more like spending a $1620 bill. That pays the rent for a month or two. Or buys a new engine for your car. There will still be money changers if SHTF. They will be happy to break that 1 oz of gold into 25 or so 1 gram gold bars.

Does that mean you are simply waiting for a breakdown of society to become a gun wielding robber? You are going to aim your rifle at me and steal my food and seeds and tools while my wife and children look on? You would take our lives simply for protecting the things we need to survive, those things we earned through honest work? I have guns and ammo because I know that people that like exist. But I also have coin because I believe most people are not like that, and we will strive to rebuild society. And remain human.

I would suggest dimes. Since they won't have much use, you can load them in 12 gauge shotgun shells.

That would be a quick way to blow your stash :) In all likely hood, we will have a financial collapse where our fiat dollar is worthless, very similar to what Greece is going through. The end of the world/mad max will not happen, Hyper-Inflation will if we contine down the path we are currently on. Israel will take care of Iran, if that happens the Straight of Hormoz will probably be closed and will drive oil higher. Once oil goes higher EVERYTHING in the world will have to follow suit and by Everything, I do mean EVERYTHING! That is where PM's come in and if that does happen, PM's will go through the roof.
