There are 3 of the 2007 baby coins, the ABC blocks, the baby rattle and the baby rattle with gold plate. Your's is the ABC blocks isn't it? Seems to be the middle one for rarity and price. Yeah, that $2,000 Buy it now is severely over-priced. So is the $200 Buy it Now for the 2006; I paid $29.67 for one just last month. :-)

The Shape of Trade in Ancient China was also worth noting.

Mintage on the 2007 silver rattle dollar is sub 1500. Even less for the keepsake tin set (included in the 1500) and abc block dollar. Price is driving entirely by the limited mintage, as it neither the first nor last time the RCM minted similar keepsake sets

I'm going by what the mint stated in their annual reports for 2007 and 2008 so I'm not sure how to reconcile this with your number.

Is this an error in the report? Are we talking about different sets/coins?

This is from the 2007 report:
2007-Mintages?

Maybe this number includes sales of both 2006 and 2007 sets?

Yeah maybe combined 2006 and 2007. I have the baby blocks coin. Pretty cool haven't found a relative find like that before. Usually I look up some old coin I got as a kid and find it's worth not much more than melt value.

I would removing the shrink wrap affect the value? Like to see the actual coin lol.

My bad, I was working off my me failing memory with I said sub 1,500, likely thinking the 1534 mintage of the $20 475th anniversay of Jacques Cartier's Arrival coin. What I've got on my spreadsheet is much closer to your numbers.

2006 Silver Dollar - Baby 2006 1 CAD Silver - Sterling 3,863
2007 Silver Dollar - Baby 2007 1 CAD Silver - Sterling 3,207
2007 Silver Dollar - Baby 2007 Gilded 1 CAD Silver - Sterling 1,911

bought a charlton catalogue and found something interesting. during 2007-2009 the mintage of some coins in series dropped a lot. for example, the hologram $150 lunar gold coins, most in series has 3000+ sold, but 2007 pig is around 800, 2009 ox is less than 500!

I started collection at the end of 2008, so I missed out on some sweet deals, myself. Bet my icon isn't cheap, if one bought it today.

2006 - $200 buy-it-now which I suspect is overpriced
2008 - one sold for $45, buy-it-now $100
2007 - sold for $665 and buy-it-now $2000 (!).

If price were solely based on mintage, I don't see why the 2008 will fare any worse than 2006 or 2007. According to the annual report, 1,822 of the 2008 were minted in 2008, and another 103 were minted in 2009. The total would be under 2,000 for the 2008, which is far less than 2007 for certain. Unlike most of the mint coins which are primarily used for display only, I would assume that some of these would have been unwrapped and consumed, thus making any intact package far more rare.

Just don't understand why 2007 would be more valuable than 2008

I got 'beat-up' on ebay today; tried to bid on 19 different "Occasion Set" quarters. I only won four. :(

The '07 Baby Rattle sold for over $80 (my high bid was around $72), but I still can't figure out why it gets so much attention. Charlton has it at $120 with a mintage of just over 30,000. The next three years (2008/'09/'10) had LOWER mintages but Charlton has them listed at $20. I was somewhat thinking that Charlton had made a typo boo-boo and should have used $20 for the 2007 also.

PS: Earlier I did pick up the 2010 Baby Carriage quarter (mintage of 27,048) for just $4.25.
