Quote: Fine, I fixed it. OK, but posting three separate anti-Carr threads in what, eight hours? I'm not a fan either, as I said in one of those threads (forget which one).

The first one is a clear counterfeit and of course I have an issue with that. The second is not. There was NEVER a 1900 Silver Eagle. There was NEVER a 1900 coin that looks even remotely like that. So NOT a counterfeit and clearly a fantasy piece. Different animal altogether. And NO, I have no issue with that. That 1900 Silver eagle...thats the coin equivalent of a jackalope. So if there are people out there (and unfortunately there are) that believe there are rabbits with horns simply because I show them one stuffed and mounted, doesn't mean there is anything wrong with making them. And before you go off saying how ridiculous that is, I know you think that. I also know you think I am the type of person that is the ruination of the hobby blah blah. The argument that people who dont know better will buy them (fantasy pieces, NOT counterfeits like that trade) thinking they are real, I have NO sympathy for them. As I have said before, only a minute or so of research would uncover that a 1900 Silver Eagle or 1964 Peace dollar never existed and that it is a fantasy piece. Its like having sympathy for Yugo buyers. Getting ganked by a REAL counterfeit, thats something altogether different. But, as I said in the other thread, no use in arguing your stellar logic. Its obvious your perverse hatred for Carr will win out no matter what.

Some say Ta-may-toe .... some say Ta-maw-toe (wish there was a dancing tomato smiley) but I'll use an apple.

Quote: "That's the coin equivalent of a jackalope" - smokeriderdon, April 25 2012 I love it! That's a quote going down in the books. You know, Carr does contribute to other coin-related forums here and there. Perhaps we can invite him over here for some Q&A? ... provided it doesn't come to fisticuffs between him and scubu that is. (You could manage that, scubu, right? ... right? ... help me out here!) :-)

I don't think ANY fantasy pieces belong in the top 3's holders. Maybe SGS but then, who cares...an MS70 1964-D $1. I'm with scubu on this one.

He generally does not participate in discussions of his own work, and is especially unlikely to join in a thread where such vociferous bile has been spewed against him.

I have emailed DC, finding him pleasant.Done direct business with him and hope to again. I think what he does is awesome and it's legal and I find it fun. If a person likes Ford trucks, they don't have to put down somebody who likes his Chevy, but some people do for an odd reason that I don't understand. If you can't say something nice about somebody ....

I really think that scubu complaining about them in so many threads has just brought DCarr more business. I know some people hadn't even heard of him till he was brought up here in some shape or form. Then they love the items when they see em.

Quote: I really think that scubu complaining about them in so many threads has just brought DCarr more business. Downright karmic, ain't it? It's one of the reasons I haven't reacted more strongly to scubu's postings. Me, I have a fair number of DC's pieces, including a few you'll probably never see discussed at CCF for certain reasons.

Dave, I am more than happy to do the strong reactions on this one. LOL Now I am really curious as to what those mystery pieces might be. The two I am really interested in though are the 64 Peace and 75 Ike. Sooner or later.

I had no idea that someone made a 64-d Peace but once I started looking for them I noticed they appreciated considerably from when they first went on sale. Talented guy.
