Whilst I would NEVER consider buying this coin from ebay and would NEVER pay that much I am thinking it MAY be genuine. I cannot see any join at all on the side. Would be interesting to examine in hand with a loupe. I wouldn't be too quick jumping at this bloke, he may actually be selling a genuine piece.

I'm with enworb. I think it's genuine too (and I'm usually quite the skeptic).
The 'thickness' of the coin may just be due to the angle of the camera.

Perhaps the provenance of the coin is that his relation was one of the mint employees who made the coin - which is why there might be a hesitancy in openly sharing the coin's history.

That actually gives further credit to it In my opinion.

Most people if gluing two coins together would line them up correctly. It would be more plausible that a mint worker quickly inserted the extra reverse die and in their hast put it in the wrong way.

There are documented cases of genuine double headed coins. What is it that makes you think its not genuine? Other than speculation (which is by the way nothing more than what saying it is genuine is).

Without the coin in hand it is near impossible to tell.

I think its genuine as well - but I wouldnt buy it off ebay, unless the seller was an establish and reputable dealer. Seriously though, if you really want one that badly, just buy it from an auction house like Downies or Noble. At least then you can be confident that you are getting the real deal.

My question to this seller......
Dear kookaking,

Your listing does state "GUARANTEED AS MINTED - CERTIFICATION AVAILABLE"
Where is the certification?
No sucker would even bid on this without it,and thats why your listing won't sell again
Seems you have something to hide, and to me and others opinion you are very SUSS

I don't see the point in harassing this guy further he obviously believes its genuine (as do I). I think the only thing unreasonable is the price. Eventually he will realise it wont sell on ebay and might go down the auction house road

This seller is either stupid or a fraudster.
Why wouldn't he show certificate in listing if it was genuine?
