like I said, I am on the stamp side more then the coin side...

I need to ID and inventory each coin. I will take scans of them (front and back) for your opinions.
The man has had them for 20 years so he is not in any hurry. I figure this will take me the better part of 6 months to a year. (my time is limited to a few hours a week.).
I have over 3000 posts on the stamp forum and enough "quality" points and time in this forum, so as time goes by, I'll be able to offer them for sale here first.

1987 (sorry) USCC contains .24 troy oz. .900 gold.
Condition = Proof

I believe what you have is the 1987 U.S. Constitution Bicentennial set. If each coin has WE THE PEOPLE in cursive then thats what they are. Which are gold and silver value.

Not sure who this fellow is supposed to be but I'll start with my usual words of CAUTIONS. Pending on how well you know this person, I'd start by saying make sure all coins are accounted for in quantity, quality, how stored, condition. Make sure that fellow sees all the coins and the documentation on them prior to you selling them. If possible, have that fellow present while your doing anything with his property.
Your not a coin dealer so you should be carefull with other people's property. So many things can go wrong with this situation. For example if later he thinks some coins could have been sold for more than you did, hard feelings will begin. If for some reason a coin vanishes, it's you that did that. Even if he retakes a coin and you don't see that, it could well be a problem for you.
I suggest purchasing a Red Book and sitting with him and going over all the coins. Using the Red Book would give you an idea of he has. You should really note to him that all the prices in the Red Book are excessive and are supposed to be the Highest price a dealer would sell them for.
For a comparison you could show him prices with a ocpy of the Grey Sheet.
I'm always pessimistic with situations like this since I've been there. In cases where families are involved, you quickly become the crook that pocketed the valueable coins. With just friends, some other so called friend will eventually say how much better he could have done somewhere else.
Just be carefull with other people's property.

I would suggest buying the Red Book. It has values for most American coins including gold, proofs, errors and colonial coins. I think Susanlynn is selling some right now. You won't be dissappointed with it.

The so called Red Book by Whitman Publishing is sold in many places. Almost all coin stores, some hobby stores, Amazon on the internet, Wizard coin supply on the internet, almost any place that deals with coins. There are virtually millions sold every year. Oddly enough since their prices are so exagerated, if you found a 2010 edition, most of the values are a lot more recent. The latest version now out is the 2013 edition.
I know it sounds like a long, long time but if you stick around here for the amouht of posts required to sell, you might find selling them here is faster and a lot more safer.
