Well it isn't quite 50/50 mcshilling...But close.

When there are lots in circulation and say it is about 70/30 at final count then maybe the 30% might bring a little higher premium.

I would suggest not even attempting population statistics, until someone goes through a whole mint-issued box first...

Just talking through my hat SPP...I am not (or anyone else) in a position to estimate the percentages...Just making every one aware of the future statistics of this coin.

Actually, no harm (I am NO expert) meant.

Yours is the right way coincollect1...?
Maybe I should have did a poll on this instead of a post..?

Can anyone tell me if the edge stamping is done at the same time as the rest of the coin is stamped...?

It's very unlikely to find that done on a circulating coin. In order to impress the edge lettering in the coining press, you need a "split collar". The collar die has to come apart in order for the coin to be ejected. Otherwise the coin would be stuck in the press.

For proof coins it would not be as much of a problem to have a special split collar die. Staff take time to make each coin individually & the press runs much slower.

Well, I looked back and read it again and there it was, the answer to my question.

Hey, DBM, everyone is allowed to be stupid once a day, and I sure used mine up...

BUT, there is always tomorrow...

I realize this is quite an old thread but I have a toonie with edge lettering that doesn't seem quite right. At first, I thought it was rim damage becase there were dimples are around the edge of the obverse. Then I noticed that the rim is raised (dimpled) where the lettering was struck. The lettering is not dead centre in all areas, but some more towards the obverse side. Hard to see in my pics but I guess the general idea can be seen.

Not unusual here's a similar 2014, and with a slight off center.

Thanks, Pennyman. Toonies don't interest me a lot, so I don't really too hard except at the obvious. This one is going to turn into a large coffee!
