I was a bit disappointed in the catalogue - it doesn't feel like they have added much new stock in my areas since last time (I've noticed that in my areas of interest, the catalogue mostly has coins which didnt sell from last time). I will agree that their catalogue can be a bit over-priced, but a great deal can be had if you look carefully enough.

just a tip, look at your local general auctions, plenty of deceased estates go in to them, i'v been buying coins for the past 10 years through this avenue and always cheaper than sole coin auctions.

All of the coins that I am looking at are actually on the cheap end on the reserve. But I don't think that will happen to be honest.

I went to a view day, and submitted bids on 5 lots, all ancient coins.
One of those lots was for a group of forgeries, of which about 10 in the lot are very deceptive indeed. Those coins will go into my reference collection, which I consider a very useful weapon with which I can defend myself against.
Use the weapons of your assailants!
Three of my bids are low. I will be happy if I get them, I will be happy if I don't, because I will not have spent my money.
Having examined in hand the lots that I am interested in, I have submitted written bids, and will not be attending the auction.

Some of predecimal copper is so nice I'm close to selling everything except for one pair of clothes just to get a few. What does a kidney fetch on ebay these days?....

How about if I sell a matching pair? I would want at least $5000 if they match. Fairly low serials (im 20 yo) as well... Surely thats worth a little premium. That way I might be able to afford 4 or 5 coins instead of none The ebay title could read; consecutive numbered kidneys, low serials, a little worse for wear, MUST SELL FAST! One day.... At least thats what i'll keep telling myself

If I live long enough (doubtful) to bid and then receive my coins i'll be sure to let you know how successful it was.
