From the picture we can see many plastic wraps so they are new loonies. Maybe they ARE 2012 old version loonies!

It's hard to tell of course, but judging by the color of the coins they look like the old style to me. Before the new ones tarnish, they have the color of chocolate covered coins!

the accident happened in March. The new coins were released in April. Most likely the were old style coins.... but they could've been new ones as we know how the mint likes to make things ahead or behind their announcements.
Now the big question is how many people have gone out with metal detectors to find coins that missed during the cleanup?

I watched a video of the cleanup. A JUMBO industrial magnet, the type used in scrap metal yards was used to pick up all of the coins and everything else the was magnetic laying on the side of the road.

I had lots of old version rolls. Kinda wish I would have held onto more than just a pair The coins in the picture are old version. The mint swiftly recalled as many old versions as possible once the new versions came in April. I think it was April 4th that the new version coins came out.

Started my toonie album today by picking up $500 worth and found all 3 types of 2012.

So, those were all new coins, heading out to be put into circulation, but they never actually made it to the banks, let alone human hands. Are they still considered uncirculated or circulated?

Quote: uncirculated, details: road rash Actually, I wouldn't mind having one of those. I don't see how it could be certified though, but to have a coin with an 'uncirculated: road rash' notation on it...
