Not what I've heard!

Any coin you can think of, any coin you can dream of, any crazy mule - China is the most feasible place to get it.

I've seen on sale, just today, an album of "80 Chinese fake coins" (well, it didn't exactly say that, it said something in Chinglish to that approximate effect).
The "coins" were selling for just under $2 a piece. I really wanted to pick up a 1795 Small Eagle dollar but ultimately decided not to

On-topic: a full set of Russian circulating non-commemorative coins by denomination would be around 60 cents. I did once (more as a joke than anything - I'm horrible at sending anything by post) propose an exchange of an 1999 ruble (uncommon date) to a full set of four bicentennial cents - both parties would feel they just got something valuable and the face value exchanged would be almost the same

As always, you guys are so great

triggersmob: That would be great! Thank you so much! I'm half Australian so I already have most basic Australian coins, but I'm sure we will be able to work something out.

augsburger: Once I have PM privileges, let me know the best way to send you something. I'd be happy to send you a lot if you sent some coins and a banknote.

svslav: lol!

babar: That is certainly something I've considered, but for me, I'm just happy to see coins from other parts of the world. Even if by the exchange rate the trade isn't equal, there is purchase power parity (PPP) to consider. If you're already familiar with PPP, please don't think I'm being condescending, but for anyone who is unfamiliar, PPP is a way of adjusting the value of currency against the local economy it operates in. For example, US$1 can buy a cheeseburger or a cup of rice, but if I got US$1 worth of Jamaican dollars (about JM$87 by the way), how many cheeseburgers or how much rice would I be able to buy. And of course, there is the intangible quality of having money from a different part of the world as well.

january1may: At least they were honest about them being replicas! I'd probably buy a few myself, especially if they were fake gold ones. As long as everyone is happy with a trade, that's really all that matters.

Heh..in that case, when you get enough posts to send a PM or email or whatever, I'd be happy to swap pakistani coins for a half-dollar and maybe a State Quarter or two.

Babar: You got it! If you know which states you'd like, let me know, so I can find you a good one. The rule is that you need 50 posts, which neither of us have yet. Perhaps we should start our own topic and chat about our trade and to get our post amount up.

Oh, I thought you mentioned that you had a half-dollar in your first post, hence my comment.

Most of the State Quarters I have are from the East coast, so west coast ones would be most appreciated!
But I guess that is a discussion for another time and place.

Yeah, I have half dollars I'd be happy to send too, but those are pretty much all the same except for the bicentennial, which I don't have, and older ones like Franklin (which I don't have) and Walking Liberty (which one of my absolute favorites, and wouldn't want to trade). I was just asking about the quarters because there are lots of different ones, and some are trickier to find. I went through some rolls of quarters yesterday and pulled out Alaska and Hawaii, which are about as west as you can get. Oregon and Washington have nice ones too in my opinion. There is also the new America the Beautiful national park quarters which are what renewed my interest in coin collecting.

By the way, I was looking at your big post on your Pakistani coins, and I really enjoyed it, especially the coin with the clouds on it.

Heh....I didn't even know about the national park quarters! I kept seeing albums for that for sale, I thought they were some kind of tokens. I guess I should browse the USA forums more often. Also, I have Hawaii already, and there're loads of cloud coins I have for trade .

Another website is Numista. You can create an account and catalog your collection online, including wantlists and duplicates. Then they have tools to generate potential trading partners. I've never traded on numista but thought I'd throw it out there as it answers your original question.

I keep track of my coins on Don's World Coin Gallery where they give you an option of listing your duplicates available that you can send to others.

The downside as always is if you trust putting your coins in the mail.

The only people I've traded with have been from CCF, so far problem free.

I signed up on Numista on the recommendation of someone here, and even with my being in Pakistan, with the post as finicky as it is, I've had 2 successful trades so far, so I heartily recommend it as well.

But I agree, it can be taxing on your trust to have to mail coins and hope the other guy does the same!

I like the trading idea. I just reached my 50 posts recently. I would be willing to do some trading with those from other countries. I am new to coin collecting. Let me know if you are interested in trading and what you are looking for.

I think trading coins with people from other countries is a great idea and I have already trade with some members here. I have sent coins from the USA to Egypt, Canada and Turkey and I have had good results so far but I have to admit the shipping cost to some of these countries makes it expensive to ship just a few coins at a time. You really need to get a good group together to make it worth while.

Also remember you don't always have to trade with members from other countries there are members her including myself who have many world coins they like to trade.

WVUcoins... what do you have that you would like to trade? I am currently trying to obtain a coin from each country that I can find.
