Fine, he's a hypocrite, and I edited the post. Are you guys happy, or should I use a better euphemism?

If I were you, I would report the shop to the Secret Service as a locale where fake U.S. currency is being sold. What's it gonna hurt if you do that? The best that could happen is they confiscate his fake coins, which is a win for anyone who walks into that store.

Yeah I would report it, please do. But they probably can't do anything if it cant be proven that he knowingly sells fake currency. Let us know if you do anything though.

Dont avoid pawn shops altogether, just avoid THIS ONE.

I agree, I HATE counterfeits with a passion, report it. This kind of jerk is almost guaranteed to try and pass them off as genuine, and while they may not fool any of us for a second, I can't stand the thought of a new collector being burnt badly & walking away with a seriously negative view of numismatics as a whole...

Yeah, but if you report now and go there later and they are still there, then he could get busted.

I know how you feel. I once went to a coin show and had a dealer place some coins before me. I inspected them, returned them with a thanks and walked away. He then came after me like a shoplifter because his 'count was off'. Funny...he did not count them in front of me, nor could he prove I took anything (I even emptied my pockets as my own proof). Some people are simply lazy with their business, and blame others when things go wrong.

He doesn't know anything about coins, but he knows that some of his dollar coins are fake.

Even if he is not intentionally selling fakes, it's still a crime to sell counterfeit items, let alone counterfeit U.S. currency. And second of all, he knows darn well he is selling counterfeit coins.

Basically what you are saying is, "Don't take action. Just let someone else potentially be scammed, even though you have the power to possibly put an end to this. Just make it somebody else's problem." Yeah, that's a pretty good idea.

I am being sarcastic. That is a horrible idea.

I think it's terrible the guy is selling obviously fake coins. I wouldn't' know how to change that, but I do know that pawn shops get scrutiny by police for obvious reasons. You might lodge a complaint there, citing the magnet test you did.
