There's no "all of the above" which would be my vote. It does depend on what you are looking for and who has what you want -and their return policy!

i am with PP "all of the above" not fussed where I get my florins as long as they aren't cleaned, dipped, pvc damaged. Oh My florin I wish I could message yar .i like to help yar find what you looking for in florins .  look for me in ebay coin forum |

If you want to find a bargain the key is to check everywhere. Some places are good for some coins, others with different coins.

I voted 'other' but I should have voted 'all', which woulfd include 'other'.
I am an opportunist. When it comes to coins, and there is enjoyable discretionary spending involved, I always ask myself:
'Is it good value for the money?'
irrespective of the buying circumstances.

Yeah I'm with the general consensus on this, all are good if they have what you want at the right price.

Yeah,probaly stating the obvious,you just have to be patient,not impulsive,and wait for the good buys to come along.After over 10 years on ebay in Oz.i still pick up the bargains every Week or 2 but its time consuming endeavour .Open Auctions,IMO,are the worst unless you are targeting a special item,they rely on the "feeding frenzy" response in patrons and you need lots of experience and self control to get a bargain and its a mine field to avoid all the Auctioneers Tricks of the Trade. |

If I am buying at auction, I always calculate the buyer's fee into my bid, and then I only lodge a single low written bid anyway, at a level that I think I would be lucky with a low price if I won.
I go to a viewing session, but I never attend the auction in person.
Needless to say, most of the time, I miss out. That's fine by me, I haven't spent the money. If I win, that's a bonus, because I know that I have obtained a lot at a low price.
A few of my better coins have been obtained in this way.

I voted other because I don't have access to a coin dealer,coin shows or live auctions. I do use ebay a lot but prefer to deal right here on ccf, That way I know I am getting a coin form a collector and not some iffy ebay seller  Edited by trout1105

I voted "coin dealer", with the qualification that it is a dealer you know well and who is sympathetic to the serious collector. Gives some discounts from time to time and looks out for special coins that the collector needs. In other words, a dealer who is professional , but not a "cut throat"  . Squire |

Nearest coin dealers to me are Big Fella (Newcastle Coins) or Prospect Coins. About a 4 hour drive either way. ebay can be good, CCF members are reliable and (as you know) some CCF members are also ebay sellers. So, options are there for "outback" collectors. Jeff |

Previous comments for $200 + coins, florins or otherwise, still apply. Some are less inclined to go to ebay at this price level, unless the seller is known. |

I would never put good money on a coin unless I had done business previously with a seller and had confidence in that seller |
