Okay, I now have my EF-S 55 - 250 mm F/4.0-5.6 IS II lens for telephoto. Once I get my bellows setup, I should have most of my ranges zeroed in. I am still the novice and have so much to learn. Heck, just reading the Canon 450D manual is a piece of work unto itself. With the lens came the registration which includes a sight to help beginners with their photography. http://www.usa.canon.com/dlcI do not know if this will help with bellows setup, but it may be useful to some others here just getting Canon cameras.

The Canon T1i (used) without lens arrived today. I examined the body and everything looks pristine. However, when I removed the plastic lens protector cover, and looked inside, I noticed a fair amount of fine dust particles. Would this be something I should be overly concerned about? Is this something I can address? Or is it an issue to be taken up at a camera shop? The seller has expressed the camera is in "mint condition" with no problems, etc. I almost feel like returning it for a refund, which I can within 14 days. I have emailed the seller expressing my concerns with this problem. What do you think?

I'd just use a squeeze blower and test it out. Take a picture of a white background and see if any dust is on the sensor/filter. You can see specs in the pictures. If no specs, I would not worry about it. A little dust on the mirror won't hurt anything. But do blow it out so it won't end up on the sensor.

Ray, I finally received the lens (just the standard 18-55mm) and shot a white background and viewed it on my computer, and could not see one dust spot. Good news. I went ahead and ordered (2) 42mm slip-on lens caps and (1) 30mm just to have on hand. Now I will have to spend some time learning how to use the Canon T1i! Thanks for all your help. I'm sure I need more.

That cap should work fine, but seems a bit expensive. I guess I've been buying from Chinese vendors for too long and it makes the "real" camera stores look expensive.
Good news on the sensor dust! ...Ray

Ray, Got the caps through B&H for $6.95 for the 42mm's and $5.50 for the 35mm and free shipping. Still high, but bought here in the U.S. and should be here in a few days. I cannot believe all the features on this camera, the manual is over 200 pages!

Ray, I have a situation I hope you can help me with. To simplify things, I would like to be able to keep my camera (Canon T1i) attached to my bellows and change the 3 lenses for shooting my GSA dollars. I have determined that I can do this easily with one exception. The Spiratone Macrotar 35mm lens is a Nikon mount. In order to get it to fit on the bellows I want to use, I need a Nikon adapter to 39mm x1 or 42mm x1. I found one (see link at bottom), but do not want to spend this kind of money. There must be a cheaper way to get that Nikon mount lens to 39mm or 42mm inside threads? I hope I am explaining this so you can understand. Do you know of a more economical solution? http://www.amazon.com/Fotodiox-Adap...p/B004G13XBC

I sure couldn't find one similiar to what I need on ebay. The only ones I can find have inside threads (see link below). Don't know if I'm describing this right, but I need outside threads (male?). I'm just a beginner here, and am just learning the terminology, so please have patience. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lens-mount-...em4845ace447

Ham...Are you absolutely sure the Macrotar is native Nikon, and doesn't just have an adapter on it? Native Nikon ones are fairly rare. Most are T-mount and have a T-mount to Nikon adapter to mount on Nikon equipment. If it is really native Nikon, you have a few options. The Fotodiox adapter is one option. It's made to use Nikon lenses on older Leica cameras, so is not a mainstream adapter, hence the price. Another option is to go M39-M42, then M42-Nikon. You can do that fairly inexpensively using this M39-M42: http://www.ebay.com/itm/39mm-42mm-M...em41602d3517plus this M42-Nikon: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nikon-F-Len...em41572d4514The other, perhaps best, option is to sell the Nikon mount Macrotar and buy a T-Mount or M39. Thanks, Ray. The Marcrotar is native Nikon. The last option you suggest will work. It comes from China. My guess it will take awhile to get here. Being able to change a lens on one bellows will make my setup operation easier to use. Thanks again for your help.
