I am in no way known an expert on these coins But most of the fake coins I have come across are a lot better looking than these.
Unless you have a specific concern with these I think it is unfair to report a listing.
Just saying

I'd also like to know why it was reported?

They appear totally genuine to me. Of course in hand would be better. I, like others, am curious why you think these are not genuine. The seller has a stellar record. PG

I think I read on another forum some of the members thought a couple of these were altered dates. I'm no where near the expert to comment either way.
Rest in Peace

The last 9 on the 1799 does look a little suspect. Could have been just an attempt to see the digit though.

I reported it already.

Unless you were specific as to why you think these are fake, you're just completely wasting everyone's time.

The 9s in 1799 should not be so oval, the 1804 reverse does not match to the only die state and the 4 is the wrong shape.

I don't think this seller altered or commissioned the alterations. These two dates have been forged for a century and a half. With the potential value of the two key dates, the only reason not to submit them for TPG is if they suspected issues.

But what did you send in your report?

I didn't get into detail specifics, but I told them that the 1799 and 1804 are suspect.

I'm no expert so for me to make a determination takes a long time. The experts that ebay consults with probably can tell at first glance.

I analyzed them because I was considering bidding myself. If they were correct, it would have been an opportunity of picking up two key dates without mortgaging my house. The issue with auctions like this is that you either get a really good deal or a really bad deal, nothing in between.

BTW, if any of the forum experts override my amateur assessment, just let me know and I'll contact ebay to withdraw the report.

I am no expert on early large cents, so I cannot comment on the authenticity of these coins. However, if I suspected a coin was a fake but was not 100% sure I think I would run this by some of the experts on this forum before reporting it to ebay. Just my opinion.

I'm no expert, and I suspect the 1799 and 1804 are probably altered dates (just due to rarity and wide-spread fakes abounding), but the others appear to me to be genuine...

I think the 99 is an altered date but I think the 04 may be good. The rest of the coins are good in my opinion.

I agree. It's odd that the black finish is everywhere on the relief except around the second 9. I did notice one thing about the 04. The 4 has a flat top. I suppose that could be die grease.
