These will be some great coins when the mint produces there picks.
I am sure I will add a proof ans unc dollar as well as a couple of halfs.
I don't collect gold as its just not in my budget, but some great designs there also.

Yeah, some good designs, and I have to say surprisingly I side with the committee on most of their choices. Except the reverse of the $5 and the $1. Would have picked 5, 6, 9, or 10 over 2 on the $5 and would have picked 2 on the $1.

I agree with their choice of reverse on the half, but 5 or 6 would have looked pretty impressive too.

Thank you for adding the link here!

I am a little disappointed that they went with a different reverse on the Dollar, choosing one from the Half Dollar candidates.

Sadly they choose all half dollar designs for the reverses which in my opinion were not very good. The dollar and the gold had some SPECTACULAR designs submitted and they ignored all of them. Some of the gold designs would have actually made me get my first gold coin I liked them so much. I was very excited for this series but seeing it finalized that excitement is gone. It will be purchased to keep the set going but if I wasnt doing a commem set I would have passed on it.

Really wish the mint would stop picking whatever is the easiest to do

I may have said this before, but the mint never ceases to amaze me by picking the worst designs possible, IMHO.

I agree. I was looking forward to this dollar occupying the appropriate hole in my 7070. Now, I am back to considering another 1990 Eisenhower Commemorative (the one I have now being a part of the 1990 Prestige set, which I will never break apart).

At least they didn't pick a design with multiple women in the background trying to grab the spotlight

I have the civil war one in my intercept type set partly because of the design and partly because of the historical significance. Some of those designs though could have made me reconsider that, I would have gotten the carrier slabbed raw and any other way you could buy it lol.

I still need to get the Eisenhower for my MS 70 set but I do like that one a lot. I even decided to start an Ike album so I can say I've completed something

I am on the fence deciding what to do ... classic silver commemorative are my true interest ... but have purchased most modern commemorative from 2008 onward.

Thanks for all the info and great debate.

Pretty excited about this set, minus the gold. Would love to own one but it's out of my budget for now.

I never really looked at the proposed designs and will remain blissfully unaware.

The dollar & half should be offered together as a package, right? I'll have a private office soon and look forward to displaying some coins!
