I am baffled...what the? Confused...to say the least. I'd love to buy them, just because...but not.
A few cool serials will exist in 2012... ?12 345678 ?12 211221 (full radar repeater) ?12 344321 (full ladder radar)
Stop making my mind tick.

RBA has released a limited number into circulation...mind you the seller is in Broome, WA. I just spoke to them on the phone. I'm trying to work out if it's a test not release...or just a nothing release. It seems rather odd to me. I've left a message too & if the girl I spoke to finds out anything more, she's going to contact me. darn...well at least we know one thing: I can now guarantee that 2012 will see $10 notes from AA-DF

Doesn't appear to be anything on the RBA site - must be a secret squirrel operation . Really intrigued as to how these notes got out and ended up in Broome. Pedro

I took one for the team.
Figuring if they are something unusual, I only paid $5 more over face including postage.
If anyone wants one of the two I'll be happy to on-sell and halve the price when it arrives.
Goatieman, please advise if the RBA gets back to you with extra info

Serials may differ by a couple of digits, in the listing.
They might be releasing $10 notes because they have'nt made any since 2008 & there's a shortage,maybe ?

Hi all, after a few references to 2012 banknotes being released into circulation. I received a call back this morning from the lady I spoke to (at the RBA) the other day about the release of 2012 banknotes into circulation. She mentioned that the notes that have been released are $5, $10 & $50. These have been released to "any" areas that required additional notes. So what she said is that because on ATM's give out $20 or more, it's likely that you may strike a chance of getting a 2012 $50. As for the $5's & $10's you'd be much more likely to receive these from a bank counter or from retail traders (who have got those denominations as change from a bank branch). There's been a couple posts already regarding these notes either being found or being sold on ebay. LostSean's post 2012 $50 polymer? https://goccf.com/t/123612

Hi Goatieman,
I don't suppose your RBA contact gave any indication when first and last prefixes are going to be available (assuming that the RBA goes down the same path as with the 2011 $50's & $100's)- I'm particularly interested in the $5s.

Pedro, the future plan is for the RBA to continue down the same path with their 2012. Then again, they could change their minds at any time...nothing last forever.
