Daniels just ask around theres probably an exchange place near by. If you did get them from the bank though like it sounds like I would bring them back or at least talk to them about it and see what the options are. They may not believe you, but if they gave them to you at face value as american money and you can prove it I would get it swapped, otherwise you will lose some money exchanging it. On the bright side right now 1 us dollar is 1.02 canadian so you will only be losing 2 cents a dollar.

I would take them back.
Heck, I refuse CDN coins when people try to give them in change.
I lived in Minnesota for a while, and everywhere you went, you
got bunches of CDN in change. It was annoying, and I started flat
refusing them about that time. Especially when you consider that
CDN money is usually worth less in exchange rate.

Interesting find. Maybe someone here in the community would take them off your hands, especially considering the recent demise of the Canadian cent.

Not sure why anyone would reject them...they spend the same. No U.S. retail clerk is going to say... "uh...this is only worth 3/4 of a cent. Please deposit another."

That is true and usually when I go get my rolls the teller usually counts out all the rolls I guess for the cameras and today she brought them out in the plastic roll holder of 25 bucks in pennies and counts them through the opening on the side and dumps them in my bank bag. I learned something from this though always put your own coin rolls in the bag lol

If you aren't that big of a collector of Canadian coins you should exchange them then get a penny collector foldable boom you got a new collection. Or you could look at the datessnd see if you can find anything older than 1900 which should have some interesting value

The non copper (zinc I think) ones will get caught in the magnet of the coin counter. Look for anything before 1960, thats what I keep. I would definetly go through these before exchanging them.

I moved this to the Canadian forum for additional opinions on what to search for in these rolls.

I doubt very much that you will find any as the size of the 1858 to 1920 cent was LARGE.
I also roll search here in Canada and very often get US cent rolls as people dump them when our dollar is at par or higher.I got as many as 20 rolls in a box.I keep them all as I spend time in the USA in the winter.Hard to trade rolls as teh postal rate is a killer.

If you're going to search them check this website for the valuable dates/varieties http://www.coinsandcanada.com/coins-prices.php There are a number of valuable ones in the 20's and a couple of valuable varieties of 1948 & 1949. Nothing much newer than that unless in great condition (except for the 1955 NSF but odds are hugely against you finding one)
