Congratulations. You don't mind me asking, how many pennies did you have to go through?

Wow! I'll check again! - How many did you have to go through? But I think my penny burn out is due to failing eyesight...!

Spider.
I had a total of 100 unsearched rolls. Why do I think they were unsearched? The totals pretty much confirm it.
(8) D/S Die #1 (5) D/S Die #2
(4) D/D RPM #1 (15) D/D RPM #2 (7) D/D RPM #3 (5) D/D RPM #8 (1) D/D RPM #9 (3) D/D RPM #10 (3) D/D RPM #13
I pretty sure I missed some others because after looking over the first 700 or so, the eyes got blurry and the head was pounding horribly so I just hurried through the rest.

How true you are Pennybright. The finds were great but after looking through loupes and microscopes at all those in such a short time really messed up my eyes.

Question then - how could making a sculpture from pennies, or picture frame from pennies, or even those token flattening machines be "legal"?

I can't imagine how long that took you. I am really impressed at what you found.

The funny part is that the rolls were a "freebie". A local coin shop owner gave them to me shortly before going out of business. He told me there was no use to check them because he had his son already go through them. Looks like his son pulled a fast one on him, to my benefit. LOL

Good luck with your auction pennybright. It seems like I saw someone selling the pre 1982 pennies in large lots a while back. I think this may have been before the new laws against melting down the coins. I put your auction on my watch list. I have a pretty good bit of these pennies. I have been saving them for a couple of years. Now since I cant scrap them I was thinking of just cashing them in. BenVA

Susan, do the math again. The profit was only $260.64 and that assumes you got the wheaties at face value. If you paid over face value for them in the first place then the profit is even lower. (But it is still a pretty good profit.)

I have started to separate the pre 1982 cents from my change. Who knows, I might make some money off them when I have several pounds!

How long do you think it'll be before the pre82s will be like the wheats, less and less common?

I looked more closely and Susan's and Bobby's auction and realized those were wheat cents. I wonder if 5000 pre 1982 memorial cents would bring in the big money like the wheaties?
