Quote: I've been told growing up that 7 is a divine number representing god and 3 is the number of his trinity. So 6 is not divine and three of them mocks that holy trinity. Also, in music, 6 semi-tones is referred to as something like the Devil's Chord, or Interval. Think of Marilyn Manson's "The Beautiful People" and you'll instantly see hear how it sounds "off", and it is never used in Gregorian Chant or hymns or anything of that nature. It's much simpler: 666 is number of the beast (c) Bible

The nefarious connotations of 666 weren't invented by some heavy metal band -- they are rooted in the Bible. The final book of the New Testament is Revelation, and for centuries theologians have pondered its highly symbolic, prophetic language. Revelation tells of impending Armageddon, an end of all time, when a great war will be fought between good and evil, and God will triumph. In Revelation, "the beast," also called the Antichrist, personifies evil.
Revelation, Chapter 13 speaks of the beast and how to identify his followers. According to verses 16 and 17, they will have the mark or the name or number of the beast on their right hands or foreheads. Verse 18 introduces the number 666 itself: "Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
It's unclear why the specific number 666 is the number of the beast. According to Dial-the-Truth Ministries, the number 6 is the number of man because in the Bible, God created man on the sixth day. Elsewhere in the Bible (Matthew 16:23), Satan is described as being "man-centered" (as opposed to God-centered). Thus the devil's number would be a twist on man's number. This is just one theory, and the number 666 has generated plenty of debate.

Hi. I'm brand new to the forum (literally my first post). I love collecting Canadian NCLT. I hope you'll forgive my newby questions, but is one able to buy Royal Canadian Mint coins from certain Canada Post branches(Canadian post offices)? I only ask, because my uncle lives in the Ottawa area. He has been doing me a favor by buying me the 5-coin HMS Shannon $2 sets and shipping them to me in the states. He ordered from the Royal Canadian Mint over a month ago and just received them in today's mail. If I had known about this Canada Post program, I would have had him buy through that channel; it would have been much quicker. What's the catch? Is it only the biggest post offices that carry the coins? And only certain issues? Thank you for your patience and answers.

Oh, thanks for the link:) Pretty cool how you can order coins online and have Canada Post ship them for you without even setting foot in the post office (if I understood correctly what I read at the Canada Post website). Here, I thought my uncle's only option was to wait on line, wrap, and pay at the counter to send me the coins (that's what he did today). I'm 38 years old, but I guess I'm still in the technological stone age, too, because I would have done shipped that way, too.

From my understanding the 5 pack of twoonies was only avail through the mint. Some items avail online through canada post. Most things the postal outlets can get in. But some are exclusive to the mint.

kim, Yes I already know about the Book of Revelation, I was simply recanting a story of my youth that a Catholic priest told me explaining its mythos. I never said anything about heavy metal; MM is pop-rock at best. The BofR was written by "John" in jail, and talks of oppression/authoritarianism in deep code and metaphor so as not alert the guards as to what he was actually writing about.
If anyone /really/ wants I can explain this "666" passage via PMs, but I'm going to leave this thread open to talks of MOOSE. Just let it be known that it's an exaggerated metaphor and possibly written on hallucinogens or a trance.

well, I guess if you are a Catholic and have a COA# that contains 66, better consider to sell your coin at a premium to Chinese people, in Chinese sayings 66 means "everything goes well"

Good news for sure. Unfortunately, my mail carrier was empty handed today but I'm sure he'll have a delivery for me tomorrow.

Got the delivery today. The Moose is very well done - happy that I ordered a second from CP last week.
I was again amazed by the Group Of Seven Lismer coin. As with the Varley, after receiving one from the Mint, I immediately went to the Post Office and bought a second. There is a very high level of craftsmanship in these coins.
Somewhat disappointed by the 1/25th gold rush coin but will comment on that in another topic and include a picture to show a packaging issue.

Still conflicted about this coin... It Is a nice design. I like how the moose fills the reverse to the edge with no borders of blank space shrinking the design. I suppose the idea is to have the moose have more of a presence. The eyes are touched up really nice too. They almost sparkle like one of them crystal-pasted coins. But, I still find the whole coin a bit unbalanced, with slightly too much white along the top and the antler doing a weird triangular thing to the left. If the moose was frosted more than the slight, almost just bullion finish it has now, I feel the it would pop out more. As is the moose looks slightly sickly to me. As a fan of Bateman's work, I'm still a bit disappointed that this was the artwork the RCM chose. All the more so that the 1oz silver moose appears a bit underwhelming despite efforts.
