Coop, definitely the worst of worst case of over polished dies. Too many Die Clashes = Less devices on coin.

Thanks EandV. I just recently started getting into "Paint". It's fun and in addition to hopefully helping people that need it, it saves me a lot of writing.

Your welcome. It definitely saves a lot of time when it comes to explaining stuff in typed words.

See if you can find a die marker on the coin and see if the other coin has it also. If you do find that, then you know its brother. LOL

@ coop-
i sent an email to monika, but I can't send an email to the other fellow (forgot his name..) who posted apparently the same coin.
i have two questions:
1- does anyone have info on what that die marker is or could be? if not i'll just have to pore over that cent and find one.
2- (sorry this is kind of off topic, but important if I want to coordinate with monika & other fellow) how do I change my email preference so that I can receive emails from other members?
never thought i'd find a coin like this & that other ppl may be holding a coin pressed by the same die. I was genuinely surprised when I googled '1983 Lincoln no neck cent' and the first hit brought me back to the forum. LOL, I think this might be the best coin forum online. everytime I google some coin i'm looking at, it always brings me here.
edit: other fellow is coinee.

A marker that would a help would be something on the die that denotes it is from a certain die. Die cracks/chips/breaks/scratches/gouges. Some event that happened to the die that would make an ID for that die. When you look close you might check around devices/inside devices to see if there are any flattened die scratches. Any thinkg to determine a match. If they don't have anything in common, then they maybe different dies or earlier die states that don't show that marker. Hope this helps?

@ coop gotcha. well, after studying this a while let me tell you what I see. i've been looking in particular at the die scratches around Lincoln's face, neck and head, comparing her coin pix with mine, with attention to the Y in LIBERTY. there is more of my Y than is showing on hers. her Y is nearly gone, while mine is a liitle more pronounced, not quite as diminshed. however, a die marker eludes me. here's the reverse. heavy horizontal die polishing marks, notice Lincoln nearly entirely gone, as well as initials. a few of the columns are oddly misshaped because of the heavy over polishing, I guess.
