I would have listed them quantity 100 and had the buyers ask if you had a certain note in stock before they bid.

No change. I put it up as a 30-day auction with a Buy It Now price of $400. It will either sell or it won't -- no bidding.
Last I checked the auction had been viewed 20 times with one person "watching" it. I don't have particularly high hopes, but we'll see what happens. And if it doesn't sell, I'll start listing them individually. After I sell the 1977 note to our good friend Captain F. Wiffo, of course...

Nope, no offers and no questions. No big deal, though. At worst, I have $200 in cash. At best, I can always try to sell them individually later.

*sigh* Well, aside from the note I sold to CaptainFwiffo, I haven't had any luck selling these. I first tried selling them as a single lot, but when that didn't work I started listing them on ebay individually with a $20 Buy It Now price. So far I've got 1961-2000 listed (except for 1977) and haven't had any takers. I decided to list them "for sale" instead of at auction, so I had to pay $0.50 apiece to list them. So far I'm about $20 in the hole for listing fees, but I figured that would be covered simply by selling one of them. Ah well, the advantage of selling them this way is that the listings will remain active until I cancel them, so there's always a chance that somebody will stumble upon the date they want a month from now, or a year, or two years... I'm actually wondering whether $20 was too much to ask, but I figured that (a) these are $2 bills and not the typical $1 birthday notes you see and (b) they are in crisp, uncirculated condition. |

Just a quick update... In addition to the note I sold to CaptainFwiffo, I have now sold 3 notes on ebay at $20 each and one off ebay for $15. That more than pays for any ebay and PayPal fees and hopefully I'll sell a few more notes. Somebody offered to buy a block of 20 notes for $4 apiece, but I turned him down. Eventually, I'll need to decide if I should just go ahead and spend the earlier notes (1901-1940). For now, though, I'm still holding onto them. |

I seen a couple of listings that have a the serial number range for one listing. Have a buy it now price and the serial number range on it. Have them contact you if you have the year that they want.

Wow, this is one heck of a necro-bump. Apparently there is still a market for "birthday" notes on ebay; might try to turn them into profit by selling to someone who does know someone with those birthdays... |
