Very nice find. But, I believe the cotton balls can cause hairlines.

Well. You certainly are closer to a State Quarter set from circulation! Nice finds!

Very nice indeed. You can try acetone on the fingerprints, but if they are tarnished into the metal, it likely wont do much. But give it a shot.

Congrats on the great finds! And you should weigh each quarter to see if they are silver or not. The silver ones are heavier.

Wquinn, I see clad edges on the CAM proofs (didn't look at the satins), but the rolls as a whole and all of the CAMs singly were significantly heavier than a regular roll. I'm not sure if they use a different metal, if they're thicker, or if it's just psychological (it feels heavier because it's different-looking, therefore I expect it to feel different), but I'm pretty sure they're unusual-but-clad.
To everyone who wants pics: I took a few last night that didn't turn out so great, and I go on vacation tomorrow morning. When I get back I promise I will clear off the back porch and try a few in daylight when I put the whole set in (flips? album? Folder? Other? HELP!), but an incandescent bulb is making everything turn out blurry and, of course, reflective (The Pitfalls Of Photographing Proofs).

Quote: 4-5 have fingerprints on them, but with luck there's a way to deal with that If they're fresh prints acetone may take the oil off the coins and remove the print .Soak them sooner than later.(30 seconds in more than enough time) If the print is old it may be permanent. Congrats on the find!

OH, so that is where I put all those coins. Please return them all to me. Nice finds.

Nice try, Carl!
I'll have to pick up some acetone when I get back from Houston. Is there anyone here who can help me deal with the prints without damaging the coins? If "sooner rather than later" is the rule, I don't want to wait, but at the same time, I'd be jumping into conservation on a proof set with no practice.
