10 dollars is not a big gamble. I doubt that you can do bad with this coin.

Now that the auction is over, I suppose it's safe to post a link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/271028745560Was going to get it for just under $5, but someone bid it up to the final price right at the last second. Luckily I placed a max bid at $10. I'll find out for sure what it is in a few days!

Did you win all four cons for under $10? If so, not a good deal but a GREAT deal!

Quote: Did you win all four cons for under $10? If so, not a good deal but a GREAT deal! Yep, the fact that the 1936(D or S) Merc is a hole filler is just another bonus! It appears that the Asian coin is a South Korean 100 Won, which is odd because I happened by chance to find one in a coinstar last Friday.

Well, Numismedia says an 1912-D nickel is worth $4 in Good. And the Merc is worth at least silver price ($3-ish). And the other 2 coins are bound to be worth something as well. So you did quite well anyway even if it's a D (IMHO looks like a S though. But who knows...)

The shape of the mint mark sure does look like an S. Good eye in seeing that which was apparently overlooked by the other bidders.

it's a 'D' I got sucked in by a seller saying she knew NOTHING about coins; only had photo of head sides of 1912 V.... Yea Right, They act dumb but are actually smart & sneaky making you think you might get a rare coin.

Quote: Let's see your image of the mintmark! Don't have the coin yet. Since it's being shipped from in-state, I may get it tommorow, but definitely at least by Thursday. I'll try my darndest to get a good pic of the MM, but God knows what a task that will be given my available equipment.

Hello again!
I finally received the coins in the mail today. It turns out that it was actually a D. There's pretty much no way I can get a good enough picture of the mintmark for you guys, so you'll just have to trust me. It's a D.
Grades G-6. Problem free. Hole filler at least!
Kind of a let down, but I still did alright given the lot included a 1936-D which I also needed.
