Yes I just peeked at ebay and one had a starting bid of $33. My father in law asked me to look into them before he splits them up between the three sons. He says he has more yellow seals and is also going to look for brown seals.

I have a feeling that when my brother in laws receive their inheritance I will be getting phone calls. I tried to talk to them about coins over the weekend and it was blank stares all around.

Would this be a good storage option for these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/BCW-Rigid-C...em51968ddd2f

The book in the link might be a good show binder, but I'd put valuable bills into a archive quality mylar sleeve before setting in the album. Often the album pages are PVC plastic and may eventually leak onto the bill.

Hope I'm not bursting any bubbles, but with any creases at all in the notes you've shown you're looking at about $25-$30 value for all 5 notes combined. I wouldn't weigh too much into it for an inheritance unless he's got some other rare and higher grade notes.

Sentimental value is another issue though

As for the paper money, he gave me a decent sized stack. I pulled these 5 out because they had a star and the yellow seal. There are more silver certs and 2 dollar bills, but nothing of significance. Some of the silver certificates are in mint condition and in consecutive numbers.

There are people (like myslef) who collect Paper Currency by Series designators. I am always looking for UNC "hole fillers" What are you going to do with these new "assets"?

I may actually sell a few of them. I think I can put them up for sale once I hit 250, right?

You must have at least 250 posts and have been a member for at least 90 days to start a listing.

Looks like you need another month and 10 days. (Registered: 06/18/2012)

Look at this way; it will give you some time to get them organized, photographed and listed for sale or trade.

I'm picking up mylar sleeves from my coin dealer this weekend. Thanks for the feedback!

I have ordered lots of notes over the past few months and they generally turn up in mylar sleeves.

I have an album with 3 pocket pages and 2 pocket pages... the 3 pocket ones I am confident enough to remove the sleeves and put straight in my album (10 years+ my previous notes spent there and no sign of damage...the pages are thin plastic with no smell to them at all and I think they are archive quality)

The 2 pocket pages however I don't trust because there is a slight smell to them so I keep the bigger notes in the mylar sleeves.

I guess better safe than sorry but no problems yet, touch wood I won't have.

Well, anything would be better than what they are stored in now. A stack between two cardboard sleeves and in a treasury envelope.

Another reason I like the mylar sleeves in addition to the album pages is in case I want to re-arrange my notes or I want to show off only a few select notes, I can pull them out of the main book to somewhere else for a short time with less chance of an accidental bend or bumping into the edge of an UNC note causing a slight curl.

With the sleeves, I can handle them with more confidence and I don't have to get the gloves out every time I want a closer look.
