I am not sure that a ding would prevent an FBL assignment. It does, however, look like the bottom groove is incomplete, which should prevent the FBL assignment.

jbuck and/or captainwiffo... that picture, or whatever you call it, is awesome. paleoguy45, it looks like a nice coin. I would probably say its a 64, no fbl for the reasons smokeriderdon gave.

I think the new pictures are better: 1920 Mercury Dime by CaptainFwiffo, on FlickrI can provide similar pictures of the Franklin above if it is donated to the CaptainFwiffo collection.

Both coins are very nice. I agree with the 63-64 on the Franklin and the merc is super nice.

CH, I could be wrong, but it was my understanding that any interruption in the lines would nix the designation. Regardless, its a NICE coin.

@smoke A nick in the line does not necessarily take away the FBL designation. FBL is determined by strike, not by bag marks, nics, etc. Go to the PCGS Price Guide site and click on all examples for the 1950-D. You will see several of their really high grade 66/67's will have nicks through the bell lines. That's my story YOUR HONOR and I'm sticking to it!
