Yeah nice group, pretty much all of those are good.

Maybe ebay is just the wrong place to buy those types of coins...

I will look again on V-coins...

You can do some good deals on v-coins, sometimes, but you have to be quick (I'm always around, muahahahahah ).

I saw a lovely one there but it's £173, a couple of acceptable ones £100-120 but none with good details/centered for £75.

I guess I will have to check that site regularly, though I don't find it is very user friendly to search on there. Searching Alexander silver drachm really didn't narrow the items too much)

Also the danger is searching like that I will spend my money on something else...I saw some Messembria, Thrace, crested corinthian helmet coins that are very striking designs (though quite small)

Yeah--vcoins search isn't too useful, unless you use the advanced feature, where you can specify search terms using "all of these words" such as "Alexander great drachm"--which returns a nice list of coins.

I have generally found that the dealers on vcoins will at least entertain reasonable offers. They will most likely be able to take 10-15% of the price of a coin, so I offer 20-25% off and we meet in the middle making everyone happy. Give it a try.

I've also succeeded at striking 10-15% off retail.

Got the following last year on vcoins for 84 euros including shipping. Not the highest grade but quite rare and pretty cool with the hand imo.

As for the Messembria coin, be careful, those can be dangerous...

Wow, Batman ... absolutely awesome drachm (I do not have a drachm yet) ... I have a similar type of Tet, but not a drachm ...

=> in "my" opinion, it is an absolutely great coin (congrats)

Dionysos if I could find one as good as that for 84 euro I would have bought it by now.

I just checked my bank account... since I made a few purchases of other coins these last few weeks I guess I should wait a little until I see a really nice one for cheap money.

Anyway thanks for the support guys, I will get on those ancients eventually...good things come to those that wait...
